re: No media coverage on 6 point play

Q: If bookies don't care then why do they change the spread?...A: because they do care and they don't like losing either.

It has become very hard to take the sec and the nfl seriously after this season...its like the whole show is being run by the bookies.
re: Shaw's response to Sternberger fumble
Posted by eastside45ydln on 11/28/18 at 10:13 am
Sternberger was sure hands all night long, but in this one instance he wasn't able to hang on to the ball...why?... not because he dropped the ball but because he fumbled after being hit by a Tiger db. When a receiver begins to transfer the ball to one side of his body doesn't that indicate control regardless of how many steps he takes or is tackled?
Todays interpretation of the "rule" is surely different that it once was. For example, in 1968 did the NY Jet's Don Maynard make the greatest catch of his career in the AFL championship or no? At 3:00 in the attached clip Maynard makes an over-the-shoulder catch that he quickly fumbles after being tackled in the red zone.
LINK
Today there is a high probability that Maynard's catch would be considered an incomplete pass and, as a result, American football folklore would be forever different.
So some say "get over it" but for me CVL sums it up best, "show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser".

college rules, e.g. unlimited overtimes and called down though never touched by a defensive player

re: What's the deal with all the Cajuns-Tigers hate?
Posted by eastside45ydln on 3/8/18 at 12:52 pm
I moved to Lafayette over 35 years ago after graduating from LSU...I remember being surprised by the attitude of the local UL graduates regarding the Tigers...deep seeded hatred stemming from what I thought was a combination of jealousy, envy and bitterness...you combine that with a historical hatred of anyone born north of I-10 and you have quite the witches brew…I will never forget when ULaLa faced LSU in the Super Regional back in 2002…the passion was so thick at those games that you could almost cut it with a knife…in fact I think a cajun fan actually pulled a knife at the regional final but quickly put it away after a LSU fan showed him a gun…LSU swept them 12-2, 12-2…it was a long hot ride back to Lafayette for sure.

The game of football has changed so much recently for safety reasons that I didn't think anyone tackled with their head down anymore...wow...hard to have sympathy for a professional with that type of technique...but it is a game and no one died so I will just have to let this one go...but man that one hurt...
American Football in China and the Wendell Brown saga
Posted by eastside45ydln on 12/16/17 at 9:46 am
Great interview with Wendell Brown, a former american football player, currently in China to coach football and train players. Wendell gives personal insight into the language barrier and his love for the players. Foreign travelers can learn a tremendous amount from Wendell's on going story regarding the dangers inherent in this foreign land.

Hang in there Wendell...life can be like a goal line stand sometimes for sure...and as they say in China "this too shall pass". :usa:

Maybe Booger McFarland can give Coach some lessons on how to speak like an analyst...or maybe they could be an analyst team and it would be Booger's job to interpret for the listening audience what CLM said or meant to say...regardless I wish he and Booger all the best... :geauxtigers:

Now that's who I want on the Tiger's coaching staff someday...now that's motivation..."say it out loud"...one question though...I wonder if they won that game? :geauxtigers:
re: Is it arrogance or confidence that Coach Orgeron possesses
Posted by eastside45ydln on 7/24/17 at 10:37 am
I would say that it is not arrogance or confidence but his love for the sport...to play defensive lineman you better love the sport, to practice during the hottest times of the year you better love the sport and to put up with arrogant fans on social media you better love the sport...and I think that Coach O, above all else, loves LSU...here's to you Coach

Pushing my 83 yr old Dad in a wheelchair across the south parking lot into Tiger Stadium and up four ramps to his seats on the east sideline...with assistance he was able to walk slowly up the portal ramp to his seat just in time to hear the golden band play pregame one last time...he couldn't really see far away at that point so during the game I would give him the play by pay...to hear the crowd noise and feel the heat and humidity of Tiger Stadium on his skin (it was an afternoon game and overcast so it was not too hot)...that was what mattered to him...he told me if he died then and there he would have been fine with that...that was my Dad's last time in Tiger Stadium and he passed away a couple years later.
re: Coach O getting a nice afternoon jog in.. shirtless BAW

Good for him...our bodies need 15-20 minutes of direct sunlight during the hotter part of the day to generate the extremely critical pre-hormone 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol, or calcitriol, aka Vitamin D3…looking good Coach.

it's the ambiance of Tiger Stadium that is so different now..I grew up on Coach Charlie Mac's football when Red's "Tiger Bait" yell resounded through the stadium, Mike the Tiger met the opposing team as they entered the field, when the night air smelled like bourbon and when tickets were so hard to get you had to know somebody who knew somebody in order to purchase an extra ticket...yes the good ole days...now not so much...very corporate, expensive, pat downs (when did drinking in Tiger Stadium not become a rite of passage),day games out the arse, and tv timeouts ad nauseam...not to mention the piped in music...are you kidding me...Coach Bill Arnsparger '84-'86 had it going on for sure...hitting on all cylinders...with that said I still love me some Tigers on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium regardless of the changes we've had to endure...
