No question that elements of the Political Left spend far too much time apologizing for Islamist lunacy. Motives range from naive to sinister.

On the other hand, foreign policy created by right wing politicians and thought leaders has done far more to enable the very same Islamist lunacy.

The Global Left didn't depose secular and socialist regimes around the Muslim world. They didn't aid mujahideen in Afghanistan and Chechnya in their jihads against Russia. They weren't chummy in Pakistan with Zia Al Haq. They don't today align themselves with super conservative oil gulf fiefdoms.

It was actually five players.

5 in the 2003 draft and 14 in the 2004 draft.
Republican presidential candidate John McCain has been the single biggest cheerleader for 'democracy' in the Arab world, from the disastrous Iraq war (which Obama in a speech condemned pre-invasion) through Egypt to Syria.

The hackery on this board is breathtaking.

Not too much of a surprise. Indonesia is the only Muslim-majority nation where Islamic political parties haven't dominated general elections.

It's about as moderate as a Muslim-majority state can get... including Turkey.

Some of the girls from Indonesia reflect this attitude, too.

Our ally Saudi Arabia is doing its best to reverse this attitude. Check out Aceh province and all the Saudi money being pumped in with the sole purpose of fostering Political Islam.

Nope nope nope.... None of them are to be trusted. We need to back Israel, give them anything they need, and let them impose mass extinction on anyone who feels ballsey enough to frick with them. That whole region has been fighting for thousands of years and in no way are we gonna change it.

The one thing all of the Mid-East, Russian, India, Saudi leaders know and realize what we can't grasp is that genocide is the only thing that works. Why do you think Iraq, lybia, and Egypt where pretty much stable for all of those years? Because there were dictators in control willing to frick anyone up who opposed them.

Let it go and let the Pitbull in Israel off the leash.

What kind of list is this? Do people actually think this way?
Until we stop allying with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan our supposed attempts to quell Sunni extremism remain inconsequential.
If we didn't invade the country this wouldn't be happening.

So ready to cede the technology, financial, and entertainment hubs of the country.

Just look at the GDPs of Northern states vs Southern states.

no. the reason SOME inner city schools suck is a direct reflection on the black urban culture, its celebration of criminality, and its hatred on education.

Black-majority schools in rural Mississippi have sucked forever, dating back to the 19th century. Why is that?

I would understand your point if there weren't ANY black doctors, engineers, PHD's, etc.

It's the parents fault.

There are low-cast doctors and engineers in India. Caste discrimination is outlawed by law in India, and has been since the 1940s. Ergo, it's solely the fault of parents that low-caste kids continue to underperform compared to other communities.

Of course, anyone who has traveled India could tell you the above is nonsense. Similarly, anyone who has traveled the Delta area of Mississippi or a Philly ghetto would say the same.

False premise. I don't blame anyone other than maybe liberal progressives who have encouraged government dependency. But generally, life is about choices.

Who was responsible for the huge gulf in educational attainment between blacks and whites in 1870? 1890? 1910? 1930? 1950? 1970? 1990? 2010?

At what point did "liberal progressives" shoulder the blame for this? Gimme a year.
In the USA, Blacks have had illiteracy rates about 8x higher than whites, dating back to the 19th century. Black educational attainment has never even approached white educational attainment. It was shameful in the late 19th century. It was shameful in the mid 20th century. It's shameful today.

I wonder if someone can pinpoint when exactly the problem became lazy parents.

The state, which is dying, is consolidating in Columbus. I can't imagine they'll be bringing more franchises to Ohio.

I don't think Ohio is 'dying' so much as people are moving to the less developed parts of America. The pioneer spirit remains strong, and sturdy Midwesterners and New Englanders are unafraid to travel to far away places and work management positions.

Anyhow, Ohio will soon have over 12 million residents. It's difficult to discount that many people. And, as the above map shows, NE Ohio is still the state's true capital.
Columbus is definitely growing. But NE Ohio has somewhere in the vicinity of 4 million people and is physically smaller than Greater Houston, Greater Dallas-Fort worth, Greater Phoenix and other new-age metros. That's the biggest market and most densely populated portion of Ohio.

Apparently the placebo's not very strong, because Godless Scandinavians and Japanese live longer than vampires while hyper-religious Muslim societies show some embarrassing numbers.

Even within our own United States of America, the most religious states trend extremely heavily towards low life expectancy (for all races, before that argument is tossed out about the South's AA share).

ETA:

This is 10 through 1 of states with lowest life expectancy for Caucasians... Southerners obviously aren't praying enough.

Georgia
Nevada
Tennessee
Louisiana
Arkansas
Mississippi
Kentucky
Oklahoma
Alabama
West Virginia

What good did the evolution of science do for those who underwent forced sterilizations, were given lobotomies or kids who suffered radiation poisoning from fluoroscopes? And what good will that evolving science do to those who go through this current life believing as fact things that will be disproven in future generations?

This post is hilarious.

Discoveries in science and medicine have given us a world in which child mortality rates have plummeted, life expectancy has risen, numerous heinous diseases have been virtually eradicated, and so on. Oh, and I can fly to Japan tomorrow or watch HD television whenever I want.

Too bad that guys like Jesus and Mohammed, for all their blathering about water, forgot to mention that boiling the stuff can kill a lot of nasty germs. And how about germ theory itself? That would have been a useful tidbit and could have prevented untold misery and human death... instead we waited over a millenia for the science you dismiss so easily. Lol.

I find it odd that people discount the whole notion due to fears about a government-backed coalition of leftist climate scientists out to muddy the issue... but have literally zero problems with corporate-backed scientists who lie about every issue under the sun.

Why would you follow the word of think tanks and publications directly funded by the energy industry, but distrust scientists from the world's top institutes of higher education? Blows me away.

Remember, kids, asbestos isn't so bad and cigarettes are only sort of addictive.

There's little to learn from Obama's share of national white votes, imo. You have to break it down by region. In the upper midwest, pacific northwest and new england, he won the white vote outright. In the Deep South, where he didn't bother campaigning, he lost by historic levels.
