imagine the absolute scenes if Pels finished #1 and got a matchup with the reigning champ Warriors in the first round
JD won us some games we should not have won with his legs this year, but by golly seeing Nuss air it out like that yesterday was like an acid flashback to Joey B. 2019

Jaxson Hayes suddenly turning a corner in year 3 certainly helps this argument. His draft record looks much nicer.
As does flipping the other 2019 1st round draft pick NAW for CJ/Nance, when let's be honest NAW still wasn't panning all the way out
Probably the 2012-13 season when Draymond Green (2nd rd rookie) and Kent Bazemore (undrafted rookie) were on the Warriors
tbh it's just nice to watch the Pels play a meaningful game for the first time in a while
Call him by his full name: Anthony Davis Is Headed To The Locker Room
Ja will literally never win a title. That's what's so annoying about this "conversation." At best, Ja has a Dame 2.0 career, which still ain't shite. But Ja can't shoot. So idk how that's gonna happen. Ja is a great player, but unless he finds himself next to a Shaq or LBJ type player, I can't foresee him winning anything.

Pressure on Zion

Posted by NOLAbaby on 1/24/22 at 3:50 am
The Trailblazers and Clippers remain without their superstars (Dame, PG, Kawhi), so the pressure has to start reheating on Zion at this/some point. Sure, he's not 100% "healed," but the longer the Pels remain 2-3 games out of a playoff spot, the more Zion looks like an a-hole in the grand scheme. At first it was the Pels' fault for not sucking his dick to completion enough, but at this point it's becoming more and more obvious (on a mass, public, league-wide scale) that Zion's behavior and attitude approaching rehab last summer was completely unprofessional and subpar. In addition, Zion's commitment to the game and dedication to the team are less than commendable. All of this to say, so long as the Pels are in the playoff fringes, the more Zion looks like a jackass - for robbing the Pelicans franchise of operational revenue and for robbing fans of fun basketball to watch. None of this is actually Zion's job. Nor should he be blamed for it. But frick, for love of Christ, can he get his shite together in 2022.
you literally made this post and didn't mentioned the two best CBB prospects this year: Paolo and Chet. Or even JSJ. Pls never post here again

Can you imagine NAW in the G league? He would be taking 100% of the shots

what's annoying is how 100% probable it feels that NAW is going to have a Jordan Clarkson esque second act to his career on somebody like the Denver Nuggets or Dallas Mavericks
Not an athlete, but I've also suffered the Jones fracture in my foot, and lemme tell you, that thing is sore as frick every time you exercise for a year plus after you break it. Zion needs to figure out how he's gonna manage the soreness bc the pain is not going away until 2023 as long as he's on the hefty side :pimp:
I could see Morey making a call to NY.

Ben Simmons for Kemba, Alec Burks, Kevin Knox, and Immanuel Quickley

It fits salary wise at least :pimp:

Alexis Ajinca officially retired :(

Pour one out for one of the Pelicans' All Time Greats

Comparisons to Al Gentry's first season

Posted by NOLAbaby on 11/25/21 at 12:22 am
Uncle Al thru first 20 games: 5-15
14 games against 2016 playoff teams

Willie through first 20 games: 4-16
10 games against likely 2022 playoff teams (12, if you count Washington, which I do not - they look like Fool's Gold).

This season reminds me a lot of Uncle Al's first season as HC. For Al, facing the GSW buzzsaw twice in the first week and a brutal schedule did the Pels in early on. After checking the box scores, the Pels even had our "Big 4" healthy for most of those games (Davis, Holiday, Gordon, Anderson). Willie probably has a better excuse given our franchise player is out of commission, but damn does it feel like deja vu.

-just for fun-
Van Gundy thru 20 games: 8-12
9 games against 2021 playoff teams

It's time to bring back E'Twuan
Crazy how much Cole Anthony's great play is leading to wins for the 4-14 Orlando Magic... Anthony literally solves none of the Pelicans problems. He's a good stats bad team player.

Same logic can be applied to Hayes. How often does a project big work out when you pick them in the lottery? Not very often, so knowing that, made it a very risky pick and it's not working out, as expected.

The '19 draft was pretty shallow after Zion and Ja. Best players NOLA could've realistically gotten at #8 were:

Rui Hachimura (same position as Zion)
Cam Reddish (who was lowkey feuding w/ Zion at the time)
Cam Johnson (same position as Zion)
Tyler Herro (who no one truly saw coming)
Matisse Thybulle (at #8?)
love how it's also translating into wins :wah:
