Speaking agriculturally, I feel I may be able to shed light on this subject. As most know the male avian that we refer to as chickens are properly called cocks, however that term has been used for many rude and crude terminology limited people the last fifty years, yet South Carolina in an attempt to create something unique about there program continue to use this term today, it always gets a mild smile or depending on the amount of alcohol consumed. A real belly laugh ensues. Alas though they choose the least of two evils and that is the fact they know the one thing a chicken has that no other animal has. His pecker on his head, therefore the term peckerhead, so they settled on cocks, what other choice did they have. Hopefully this clears the discussion up. Go peckerheads.

Hummmm...I have followed the gamecocks since they entered the SEC and have some other ideas they may use in helping us to understand exactly what a "gamecock" is........I have read many definitions that have been posted by fraternities on game weekends at the BR campus and think they may well have ideas too....I wish I could remember which "cock" posts would help our understanding the most..lol
