Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork was not happy about this Memphis Commercial Appeal sports cover after his team's loss to Memphis last weekend...

So he wrote this letter to the paper's editor...
quote:

After careful consideration, I feel compelled to express my disappointment in the way you reported the outcome of the Ole Miss vs. Memphis game, specifically, the way you dramatized a moment that affected a young man’s life with a grossly depicted image (“Smash Hit,” Oct. 18 article). Using an image of a student-athlete knocked out with a concussion is no way to sell newspapers. The discussion around head injuries in sports is widespread, and we strive to be a leader for awareness and safety. In fact, we are hosting the “Neuroscience and Learning: Healing the Injured Brain” conference in Oxford this week. Concussions and head injuries are extremely serious, and it’s unfortunate that you would use your platform to sensationalize them.

Stupid of the Coach to play a stud DT on O and expose him to a helmet to the knee also.

So the player suffers a class 3 concussion ( unconscious) and he is playing this week. Hope he doesn't get concussed again this weekend.

AD maybe ought to spend some time looking into that.

I guess it is my biased, but defending student athletes is exactly what I want of my AD. He has done this twice as someone mentioned, the two times that a paper used an injury of the other team as their headline picture. Once again, it must be my biased, but I think it is a tasteless thing to do and who else but the AD should say something about it?

If the Ncaa or the Universities really cared about the brain injuries suffered by players they would offer to partially pay for any brain damage suspected from playing at the college level. Not talking about paying current players or giving them the best care during college, but after they put down the cleats and pads. That is what should be done.

I mean, it was a SMASH HIT. Don't run with your star DT. The coach put him in that situation

God he is such a lil bitch. It was Treadwell last year and Kimchee this year. Always pissed about a loss so he takes it to the editorial page. Maybe he should blame his fricking coach for giving the kid a concussion.

"the way you dramatized a moment that affected a young man's life"

affected a young man's life? It was a concussion, not a paralyzing injury. Step off the ledge you overly dramatic Ole Miss queen. Jeez, I hate your school more everyday.
