2025 SEC Baseball Awards Announced

HOOVER, Ala. (May 19, 2025)-----The Southeastern Conference on Monday announced its 2025 baseball awards and All-SEC teams, recognizing standout performances from this season. The awards were voted on by the league’s head coaches.
Arkansas’ Wehiwa Aloy was named SEC Player of the Year, Tennessee’s Liam Doyle is the SEC Pitcher of the Year, Texas’ Dylan Volantis is the SEC Freshman of the Year, Mississippi State’s Ace Reese is the SEC Newcomer of the Year, Texas A&M’s Ryan Prager is the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and Texas’ Jim Schlossnagle is the SEC Coach of the Year.
Aloy has started every game at shortstop this season for the Razorbacks. He leads the team with 18 home runs and 58 RBI and leads all SEC players in runs scored (72) and base hits (82). He has twice been named SEC Player of the Week and was named a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award.
Doyle enters the postseason with nine wins and leads the nation with 137 strikeouts. He has held batters to a .171 average and has been the starter for two combined no-hitters for the Vols this season. He was also named a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award.
Volantis set the SEC freshman record with 11 saves in conference games, and he leads all SEC players with a 1.59 ERA (min. 25 IP) in league action. In all games, Volantis is 4-0 with 12 saves. He was one of eight SEC players to be named a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist.
In conference games, Reese leads all SEC players with a .402 average, 15 home runs, 49 hits and slugging percentage of .869. Overall, Reese is hitting .369 with 21 home runs and 66 RBI. He is the second winner of the SEC Baseball Newcomer of the Year award, which is now presented to a first-year transfer.
Prager earned his undergraduate degree in finance with a 3.65 GPA in the Mays Business School. He is a previous member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. Prager has 13 wins in his career and earned All-America honors a year ago.
Schlossnagle led Texas to the SEC regular season title in the Longhorns’ first year in the league. Texas won eight SEC series in the regular season, and it is the first SEC Coach of the Year honor for Schlossnagle, who is in his first year at Texas.
The 2025 SEC Baseball Tournament will be played Tuesday through Sunday at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
