Nah. I would never stoop to such a pathetic level. I will just continue to be amused by your terrible opinions.

You really think the point of this discussion was to personally convince Baker to play?

Sarcasm must be a foreign concept eh?

Every damn one of you would’ve done the same thing Baker did if you were in his position. You going to risk blowing out a knee in a meaningless bowl game and risk millions of dollars? Take off your homer glasses and look at it from his perspective. Secondly, he won’t be back next year anyway so we might as well be playing corners that will be for the reps.

I would be curious to look at the first round and see how many played in their bowl game.
These are amateur athletes, so every game is meaningless when put against NFL money. But kids play with their teammates (some of them may be called team leaders) anyway.

And Baker no doubt would be playing if we were playing for a NC but we didn’t bother to show up against LSU and pissed away the chance with Bama so we are in the Sugar Bowl.

Does he get paid more if he plays in a Playoff?
How does a playoff game help his NFL career?
Do rookies with playoff credentials get better treatment in the NFL than the other rooks?
Every college game jeopardizes the NFL career, which is why bailing on his teammates is unnecessary.

Reward of winning a championship vs sugar bowl.....

Would you feel the same way if it was the Music City Bowl instead of the Sugar Bowl? Probably not.

What does that get you in the NFL? A pat on the back?
It probably doesn't even get mentioned in a player profile.

It has nothing to do with me or my feelings. I don't pretend that these players play for me.
Quitting a team is a big deal. Someone on the team might have accidentally looked at Baker as a team leader the past couple of seasons.
And truthfully, college games mean nothing to the NFL. All of them. Roquan was drafted at his spot whether we won the natty or not. Same with Jarvis Jones. Quit the team for 1, 2, or 3 games... the NFL is about, "what can you do for me now" and doesn't care what your college team's record was. Hell... Matt Ryan threw 19 interceptions in his redshirt senior season of college and it didn't matter.
In april, let's see how many 1st rounders quit their team before we say everyone on this board would do it.

So if we are using that logic then Stafford, Moreno, A.J. Green, Ogletree, Gurley, Floyd, Smith, etc are all quitters. They all quit on their team to go to the NFL when they could’ve come back and been unpaid role models for their teammates. Also, no one working in an office or public job should quit and go to another job because their coworkers are counting on them

If we win a championship, for sure. Not financially though.

Which one of them quit before the bowl game, again? I don't remember.

They all quit with eligibility left. They all could’ve come back.
Yall can get upset if you want but this is what will continue to happen in all of college football so it won’t change. If you want to recruit at a high level then don’t get pissed if they leave for the NFL.

Originally, players would skip the bowl game to go to Phoenix and get a head start on training for the combine. A lot of these players were trying to recover from injuries plagued during the season.
Now, the official statement is to leave the team to focus on the combine. But how many of them leave home to train? Baker is in New Orleans.
Do you see how this trend is sliding?

So what’s the solution because it’s going to continue. Should we have UGA police haul him in and force him to play? What exactly are we going to do about it?

Gurley and Greene missed more games than Baker due to looking out for their financial self interest.

Leaving after 3 years is like going to college to get a job... and then a great job comes along so you don't need to finish college. I love that story. That story also helps recruiting. They are finishing their 2018 season and getting a job for the 2019 season a year ahead of their classmates. Bully for them (I did the same thing at UGA).
Leaving before the 2018 team finishes and not having any more football until the 2019 season starts is different.
1)that is quitting the 2018 team
2)for my profession, that is like quitting my job to work on my resume' (different than quitting my job to take a better job). It is kind of asinine to quit a paying job to work on a resume'.

There is no solution.
Call a spade a spade.
Don't laugh at Will Grier and WVU (or Steve Spurrier and the gamecocks) and then baby our guys by saying it is ok and we understand.
Baker is a big boy. He has made his decision. He gets criticism for it because it is merited. But life is about choices and he made his.
