Completing your junior year and Forgoing your senior year to go to the NFL is a completely different thing than quitting before your bowl game. If you decide to play 3 years then play ALL of your games those 3 years. If you play 4 years then play ALL of your games those 4 years.

Except most athletic scholarships aren’t for four years anymore. Coaches normalized leaving early for the NFL in exchange for greater roster flexibility scholarship-wise.

It’s a new era guys. Non playoff bowls are like the nfl preseason. It’s about getting the new guys ready. I look at this as a positive. More playing time for guys who will contribute next year when the games actually matter. Seniors want to play? Great, they’ve earned it. Don’t want to play and give the young guys some reps? Great, better for us in the long run and they’ve earned that too.

The word “quit” is outdated and offensive to potential millionaires and their water boys. We need a new more sensitive and less offensive word for “quit”....
How about “discontinue”?
