I would love to see us be able to run all over ND.
We actually had more rushing yards (141) compared to 136 passing yards vs Texas so hopefully this is an encouraging sign that we will be able to run against ND.

That's exactly what I'm hoping as well. Notre Dame is going to stack the box playing a lot of man like they do and try to take away the run and make Gunner throw more than we may want to. Establishing that running game early and often is going to be important to wear them down.

11 is gonna need to run a 9 route and catch it early to set the tone.

If it's true that Gunner throws a more catchable ball, I'll allow a big pass to 11. Once.

A running QB can force 11x11 football and changes the math.

A couple of down field throws will burn them.

I don't think ND is going to respect the QB run until forced to. I think they are OK with giving up some QB runs as long as they stop the running back-by- committee and glue themselves to the receivers.

Gunner's reputation as a running QB is a little overblown in my opinion. He's actually not very fast. I think Film Guy said in a recent video his 40 time is only 4.8 or 4.9. He can run good enough to pick up a 3rd and 4 scrambling but he's not Milroe, Pavia, Sellers, et al. who can make explosives (20+ yards) with his legs. For that reason I don't think ND (or anyone else) will respect that narrative until such time as Gunner actually rips a few 20 yard runs.

Blah-blah-blah. Until you can show some respect for ND’s sack leader, team leader, & one of the nation’s most disruptive interior lineman — who is out for the Sugar Bowl — and acknowledge that his absence is majorly impactful for Stockton & our run game, just stfu.

Tebow wasn't fast either and that is who I would compare him to though Gunner has a much better arm. It's about timing. Elway was a great runner without being a great runner

Way I see it is they are already cheating the LOS, we have one guy who may be the fastest player in College football, a bevy of physical athletic tightends, and several serviceable wrs. Them cheating is the best thing that could happen to Gunner as our guys should get open. Not to mention he scrambles like Burrow and sits on the sidelines creating time for wrs to get open, that also generates a lot of DPI.

Plus cheating the line is what Chubb and Michel fed on. Etienne and Frazier, especially Frazier could break it off in them.

What do you mean by "cheating the line"? I am not familiar with this terminology.

You defend the field, when you load the box, you are cheating to the LOS, leaving the top of the defense open. Lot easier to score when you can simply throw over the defense heck, it's the weakness of Kirby's defense but few can execute it.

One way to defeat it is with a scrambling QB who sits near the sideline and picks you a part

I see this as a net positive because we are not a running team this season. I'm not sure what the ratio has been on average but it's got be in the neighborhood of 3 to 1 in favor of passing.

We ran 881 plays. 400 rushing. 481 passing.

I bet she also thinks Beck ended the season at the bottom of the SEC for QBR

3 to 1 is an exaggeration but she's not completely wrong. Some games were really pass heavy, and other cupcakes very run heavy. In the tough games, we were definitely pass heavy.

Yes, I'm not surprised that number of plays run/pass was pretty balanced but what matters is the effectiveness of run vs pass.
We had 3700 yards passing and 1680 rushing which is roughly 3 to 1.

UGA is only behind Texas for all playoff teams for total passing yards. Playing one of the toughest schedules in the Country

I wonder how good the numbers would be if instead of being dead last in FBS in dropped passes, we were middle of the pack. That's got to add close to a thousand yards.

We have been a play action offense since Kirbs has been here. Run to set up the pass. We were just really good at passing this year. We were not dominant running but did good enough most games to set up the PA game. We will do the same thing against ND with some different wrinkles.

Oh, and we averaged 33.3 points per game this year.

Honestly it'd be higher if we didn't get off to slow starts this season..
