Not really about what Cox did, but once we knew we couldn't win the SEC, the priority should have been getting one of the young QB's some playing time and maybe 2010 wouldn't have been as bad.
Save a game or two, Murray wasn't the problem with our 2010 team at all.
IIRC, Murray had some kind of injury that kept him from playing the 2009 season (shoulder?). Logan Gray clearly wasn't the answer either, so we stuck with Cox and became a run first team in the 2nd half of that year.

Murray might not have been the problem, but he wasn't the answer that year either. And it's not about the QB it is about not trying to get another QB ready so you don't have another down year. And Mettenberger wasn't injured we could have played him some.

I would put more of the blame on the suspensions, offensive line, and defense for that season's failures.

Mettenberger was kicked off the team, so it's a non-issue. I'm not convinced that he would have done any better than Murray in 2010 either, especially after what I've seen from him at LSU so far.

Not saying Mettenberger would have done better than Murray, just saying it is stupid to not give your backup some meaningful snaps. IF we go through this year and let Murray take every snap in games that are blowouts and don't let Mason play some and actually run the whole offense then that is just stupid. Any game that gets out of control by halftime or the end of the third quarter we should have Mason in the game and running our entire offense not just handing off to the running backs to get the game over. Do you really want to go into the following year with Mason not having any real game experience at all.
