What you quoted does not align with your title, btw.

It most certainly does.

He says Bennett gives us the better chance to win and people are still judging them by what they once were. That's the same thing as saying Bennett is better.

You're being obtuse.

It's concerning that a on a team with a four star and 2 five star QBs, 5'9 walk-on gives us the best chance to win.

Yep. The reality is that if Bennett is in fact the best QB we currently have, then the program has failed miserably in its recruiting and/or development of quarterbacks.

sorry shawshank. Can you refute my previous example regarding JT3/Stafford? It's obtuse to think that it's as black and white as you're making it. JT hasn't gotten reps with the 1s in who knows how long, and he's been symptomatic for who knows how long. It's entirely possible, likely in fact, that JT is the better QB (he is) but the coaches feel that at this moment in time stetson is better suited to start on Friday. It's not hard to wrap your head around if you try.

Exactly. He hasn't continued to win. So while they are clearly feeling pressure about all the questions, they haven't come clean on why Bennett wasn't even the starter earlier in the season. Or why the guy who was the starter has been barely allowed to play since (allegedly) getting healthy.

More will come out after the season, I'm certain of it.

In the meantime, they better win the next two with Bennett...no choice, given some of their statements.

The QB that gives you the best chance to win a NCG is the better QB. Period.

Maybe JTD will become better but he isn't better right now.

If you can't understand that you're a moron.

If JT was performing markedly better that Stet he would be starting. That’s it.

What chance has JT had to earn his job back? The practice field?

If not for the defense bailing his arse out just before halftime, Stet may have lost his job against Florida. Had JT taken over in that second half, we likely never see Stet on the field again.

Instead, JT hasn't sniffed anything but limited garbage time, Stet continues to struggle against decent/good defenses, and we, as fans of the program, are just supposed to accept this narrative that Stet is "performing" better than JT?

Nah.

Yet oddly...Daniels was better through the beginning of this season. Until he was hurt.

Hmmm. So again...either there is something that the coaches aren't saying (or can't say) or Kirby himself failed to recognize Bennett's immense talent for years.

The person not getting enough credit in all of this is Daniels. He's tolerated it in silence and continued to practice even though Smart apparently has had zero intention of playing him no matter how well he might practice or no matter how Bennett performs.

Nothing more perplexing than how he wasn’t even the backup until the UAB game kicked off.

Yep and that is not how it typically works with an established starter at qb

Some choice quotes that OP left out of his misleadingly titled post:

The NFL scouts and draft analysts aren’t seeing or saying the same things [about Bennett], but Monken, who coached former Florida State QB Jameis Winston in the NFL, toed the company line at the CFP-mandated press conference.

Monken would not answer when asked about two instances when it seemed Daniels would have gotten another chance at the position.

Monken also didn’t elaborate when asked why there wasn’t more of a quarterback competition after Bennett struggled with a 10-of-19, two-interception passing performance against Florida this season.

lol so you are okay believing an unsourced opinion piece (with no link to original quote), but question what the guy in charge of the decision is telling you?

sounds about right.

What unsourced opinion?

Coach speak is always filled with BS. They say what they need to say and are paid well to do so.

I don't think he realizes that the quotes I just listed are directly from the exact same article that Mr. Flex cited at the start of this thread.

At the end of the day, it's clear that Monken was in overdrive explaining the thinking and backing up Smart...but also the OP didn't include all aspects of what he said or didn't say.

"toed the company line" is the writer's opinion. you are buying that information because it aligns with your previously held views.

Monken explained his reasoning pretty candidly today, but because it doesnt align with your previously held views, you rebuke it.

It is an immature way to go through life.

Yes. But refusing to answer certain questions isn't an opinion, it's simply a fact.

He either didn't have answers or didn't want to give them or couldn't give them.

He is describing “coach speak” and it has nothing to do with my opinion on the qbs
