The problem was that their DL didn't have any reason NOT to load the box. Our receivers were dropping perfectly good passes. We needed help at receiver. That would have softened up the D. It didn't happen so CJC was limited. Now you follow that up with the fact most of their guys were packing the middle and the short screen passes become risky to turnovers. I agree we should have tried more sweeps or pitches but we didn't and I'm not sure why other than maybe CJC or JF saw something in the scheme that the other team was showing.

Edited: To say we were also getting some sketchy calls on our guys while there were missed calls all night in favor of the other team. I know I know, I'm being a poor sport...well its true. And I'm not over it. huh.

Not sure what this means... The DL is essentially always "loading the box"... it's kind of their job. I'd guess you mean load the box on D collectively, but the reality is they ran very few true blitzes and simply played base 4 man rush with LBs playing with the *assumption* of run until proven otherwise. About to post this link in a separate post, but worth checking out Ian Boyd's "film review" of the game: LINK

In short, he thinks that we wouldn't fare particularly well in a rematch due to fundamental differences on the LOS. I don't necessarily disagree with the premise that we would have a lot of adjustments to make, but I don't agree that the rematch goes particularly poorly for us. We made their lives easier on offense as well... I think we have the ability to prevent KJ from beating us, and I don't think we get beat on screen passes repeatedly in a rematch.

We would have to play a drastically different offensive approach though, at least early on... I agree with his comments that you're going to have to force their LBs to cover intermediate routes. The major problem was that their DL was making the run stops in a lot of cases while being blocked 1-1 still. That will be a tough thing to assess.
