SEC Storied - Hines Ward

Just caught this on SEC Network. I had no idea about Hines’ background or really much about him in general. That was on the tail end of my UGA time and I was trying to get my shite together so wasn’t as into UGA football. I knew he was great but his story is really something.

CBS had a short segment before the 3:30 game of the week one time with Hines and his mom when he was still playing. But it wasn't nearly as thorough as the 30 for 30 one. it was awesome.

I had no idea he was half Korean and his mom left Korea with him and moved to Atlanta to avoid the racism and shunning in Korea towards “half breeds”. He later started a Foundation for mixed race kids in Korea.
Imagine telling today’s citizens in south Atlanta that Hines Ward moved to Georgia to get away from racism.
His mom busted her arse to support him too after dad left. He apparently wasn’t ready for his Korean fling to follow him home after his tour. He must have been a real POS and was only mentioned once in the whole show.
