rare white Linebacker that starts in the SEC
Once upon a time, long ago, Knox Culpepper and Tommy Thurson were All SEC tackling machines. Last of that breed at UGA seemed to be John Brantley in the late 80's. Dude made over 150 tackles two years in a row.
Well...maybe Whit Marshall in the mid-90s come to think of it. He was a rare white linebacker starting in the SEC.
Whatever happened to all the great white inside linebackers?

Nah. Not everybody stuck around for whatever reason, maybe a few hundred. I’m assuming they all weren’t aware.

You left out the epitome of ole school hard drinking brawling linebackers - Bill Mitchell.

Unfortunately no. I heard the elite level of donors in the Sky suites had complimentary beverages though.

Thanks for the report, Kirby will have them ready for the Gamecocks. Austin Peay will be a great scrimmage game.
Did ya'll forget about Ganus? He was a good ILB.

Not sure what to think about Walter Grant at star. He wouldn't have been one of my guesses until way down the list.
His body type is not that much different than Josh Harvey Clemons who played Star in Grantham's 3-4

yes, thanks...that's was a heck of run...Thurson, then Culpepper, then Mitchell. Those guys just made tackles all day. Seems like defense was aimed to funnel everything in to them.

Good catch. I totally forgot about Jake Ganus...maybe because he came in after UAB imploded and only played one season. But he was a surprise...coming in and taking a starting spot.
