Kirby's style isn't bringing in another QB like Sark, Spurrier, or Saban. He establishes the #1 guy and rides with him. The only reason he gave Fields some series I think is because it was part of the deal in order for him to commit and Kirby made good on his promise. Those times we tried to use Fields in the red zone didn't work and then of course that dreaded fake punt seemed to be the nail in the coffin for Fields. He seemed really upset about being put into that playcall.

Fields came in to light a fire under Fromm's arse when he started regressing from his very good freshman season. There's nothing more complex about it.

We can nitpick him to death

I agree he is our best option but I don't think we are nitpicking. His flaws are obvious to us as his stair downs are to the opposing defenses. Hopefully whatever is going on in his head subsides.

Gunner has got to be a better option or we're going to have problems next year.

Just stop. Beck made a lot of great reads and threw catchable passes. The release time on his screen passes is nearly half a second. Gunner can't have someone toss him a ball, turn around, throw a rocket on target in half a second.

The first pick was a great play by the defender to read the play and a super athletic move to catch the ball. I hear Texas hands out scholarships to pretty good players, too. The second pick should have been caught. The third pick happened because the defender held Smith so he couldn't turn and come back to the ball.

Next year is going to be the real problem when Beck is gone and we're left with Gunner and Rashada.

The interception was a Luckie drop. So was the touchdown pass that Luckie dropped. Our tight ends are shite.

Hit his hands stretching

As an ex-WR I will say this...it is thought, if it hits your hands you should make the catch. Was it a tough catch? Yes, no doubt. You will rarely have a perfect throw, though. It was a very catchable ball. No doubt a tough catch, but if he wants to play on Sundays, he better be able to reel those in.

Carson would say that was a bad throw.

Sure he would. But, honestly? most throws would be considered bad throws. Very few passes are going to hit a receiver in the hands leading him. There are just too many things happening for the QB to make perfect throws.

It was not a good throw. He could have thrown the pass better. But it should have been caught.

I think I counted something like 4 passes that were easily catchable that were just dropped by receivers. That one was not as good as those, but it was definitely catchable, and I can promise that Luckie would say he should have caught it.
