Economies based on agriculture and cheap slave labor have no incentive to evolve .If slave labor had been nonexistent in our region, the first cotton picker would have been introduced around the turn of the last century .Slave labor gave us little reason to evolve industrially.

I suppose that could be one direction. To me though, our greatest strength at the time was our natural resourses. Also, in your opinion, if we weren't going to be an agricultural power what industry coul we have developed on the same level?

Agriculture and timber would have continued to be our bread and butter,but the way we farmed our fields would have evolved more rapidly .Replace 13 million slaves with 13 million Europeans and i promise you our entire way of crop management would have evolved much much sooner and efficiently .

It was a true statement and should not be considered racist. Especially not worth a banning. But that's the new world order spreading down from the Obama Administration.

You do realize that Southerners did not sail boats down to Africa and kidnap slaves to bring back to their cotton fields right?
The truth is that some black Africans kidnapped other black Africans from the African interior..... and then sold them to the northern yankee slave ships when they would come port. At the time, slaves were the most profitable export commodity for "mother Africa".

How quickly we forget that it is black people that sold their own bothers into slavery. Not condoning what was done, but it's not just the "White mans" fault. There is plenty of blame to go around.

If you really are black, I wonder if your relatives had a hand in the slave trade or if some of your distant relatives still do since Africa is one of the few places that still has slavery.
