Why are there no clear instructions about how or when you can apply for this in Georgia?

I’ve went to the Ga dept. of labor website and there’s NOTHING on there about this. They only give you the option of applying for regular unemployment insurance. I went ahead and did that just for the hell of it and of course I got denied. Tried contacting and emailing them multiple times to get a straight answer specifically about applying for PUI and got no response.

I’ve read multiple articles that state self employed will definitely get the $600 PUI per week but nothing I can find explains how to apply or when you can apply.

Trump just said he wanted all checks to come from the federal government to save time, said democrats threw a fit to have it go through States. Far more complicated systems and 40 yo computer infrastructure.

You can apply online and they’ll issue you a loan officer. Generally takes 5-7 business days until you get a response. If you need help, I’d be more than willing to do so.

There's small business loans and self employed unemployment. Two different things. My wife is a Real Estate Agent so I asked her to look into it. This is what she found ...

Yeah I know. I don’t own a small business. Just self employed. I already applied on that website and was rejected because you can only apply for regular unemployment there. I don’t see anything setup yet for the pandemic unemployment assistance.

Go to sba.gov if you’re a sole proprietor, contract worker, or own a business with < 500 employees.

Listening to the radio this morning they said it would be a while before they can get the system setup. It's new, new site, new calculations, new databases, created by a government entity. It will take time, maybe weeks get up and running. I would expect delays and bugs after it is up an running as well. I hope it all works out.

I'd expect to spend at least a day waiting on someone earning $24K a year to do something. They'll have thousands of applicants and 2 people working them....and those 2 will have been hired because they were completely unemployable anywhere else. The UI system makes the DMV appear to be the epitome of efficiency. I haven't been in a GA UI office in years but even when you are there as an employer it takes FOREVER.....UI offices are the reason I never broke many laws because I figured prison would be like being at the UI office for an extended period of time with the added benefit of being actually raped from time to time....

On a related note, if any of you are wishing to apply for the Paycheck Protection program and your lender is not set up, they can go here to get quickly set up.
