This last part shouldn't be underestimated.
It's extremely rare for someone to coach at a single school as long as Richt and not go scorched-earth on the way out. Richt not only left with class, he left a tremendous amount of talent in the cupboard, encouraged players to stay, and remained a Georgia fan despite any hard feelings.
Kirby has killed subsequent recruiting classes, but it would have been a much more difficult and time-consuming rebuild if Richt hadn't bowed out with grace and class.

Fair enough. But a large portion of the population sees him being a strong Christian leader as something that is a good thing. You seem to be one of a few, if not the only one who has an issue with his faith and how others see it as a strength.
