I’ll lay it out more clearly.
My Grandfather was the Captain, who piloted special ops missions in WWII. He won many medals and was pictured with both Presidents. He finished up WWII and graduated from one of the top engineering schools in the country at the time...Purdue. It was because the students there actually had hands-on experience with locomotives that were steam driven. They became the “boiler-makers” by the students. They had been called many nicknames, inclunding “corn-huskers” back then. The name stuck and it’s still considered a top institution in the nation for engineering.
