You said you'd be using a MasterBuilt so won't you be smoking your meat with sawdust held together by glue?

Finally, some decent competition. Looking good. You missed some trimming on the top left.

Masterbuilt gravity series. Runs on coal.

Will you be using pellets for smoke? Yes or no.

You use propane and an oven.

Questioning his BBQ technique is like a monkey throwing rocks at the moon.

Is he or is he not smoking his ribs with sawdust glue in the masterbuilt gravity setup?

Are the two of you colluding?

I’m surprised his family hasn’t chipped in on one if they’re all coming over to eat these annual disasters.

But I’m impressed he is upping his game with Stricklands ribs…Food Lion must have sold out.

A wood pellet or charcoal gravity smoker is an acceptable practice. Nothing beats RB though with his stick fired tow behind grilling rig though.

Striplings, not Stricklands. And I used them last year in the Riboff. Same place LSUhobnail gets his meat.

Got the name wrong…my parents live in Monroe and go there a lot…their cakes kick arse.

I’ll be happy to be an unbiased judge and will submit my wings but wasn’t planning on doing any BBQ this week. Too fricking hot.

Ribs went on at 7. Time to get saucy.

Chili powder, salt, pepper.

Ketchup, molasses, honey, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, brown sugar.

Sautéed onions and garlic.

Homemade sauce is a big plus in my book. I’ve never tried it because it adds additional work and there are so many options available. Well done!

I used to do homemade sauce and it was never really better than store bought, and like you said, a lot of extra work and cleanup. And like you, for the purposes of a competition, it does add extra points in my book too.

drunkensailor on his way to win this thing. Let's see what Griffin Iscariot can slap together. Instead of a honey mustard binder, he's using sawdust glue.

Beans are on. Ribs are cruising. Spritzing with some Busch Light Peach (sounds weird, comes out amazing).

Beans have bacon, onion, habanero, the aforementioned bbq sauce, brown sugar, molasses, Dijon mustard, and apple cider vinegar.

Hickory rolling on my St Louis ribs for about 40 minutes. Baby backs showing up with dad later, then will throw those on. Dill potato salad already made from scratch and chilling in the fridge. Corn cobs and hot dogs on deck too.

I posted over in the thread that had RIBOFF in the title.
Hope you made sure the propane tanks are topped off.
