The Rara thing is super impactful because it turns Bell into the temporary X until if/when Colbie Young is up to speed enough to take over. Bell was supposed to be our Bowers type this year. Move around. Motion. Reverses. A designated playmaker per se. But now he has to play a more traditional receiver role at least for a while. Hopefully Yurosek can give us some of that Bowers type stuff as that is why we took him.

Is Yurosek expected to start over Delp? I’ve never seen him play and still haven’t gotten around to checking out his Stanford highlights. Delp looked very bowers-esque at times last season when he had a chance to get the ball.

No. He was 3rd TE behind Luckie today. He needs to improve in blocking. We run a lot of 3 TE sets so he should play a good bit.

We essentially have 2 types of TEs. “Movers” and “In-line”. Darnell was the prototype for our in-line TE and after he left we didn’t have a replacement. Because of that, Delp bulked up more than anyone ever thought he would to play that role. He played at like 250+ last year. Delp is our in-line guy. He’ll still catch passes, but he’ll start because of his blocking. Bowers was a unicorn in the sense of his willingness and effectiveness blocking combined with his insane athleticism.
Yurosek actually put up decent numbers at Stanford (he was injured most of last year) when you consider the quality of that team. Watch his highlights. He’s not Brock, but he’s not a bad imitation. He’ll have to work on his blocking and more importantly the playbook. That’s why he’s 3rd string. He wasn’t here in spring. He got to Athens like 3 weeks ago. I fully expect him to be a household name in this fanbase by midseason.

Sort of get flashbacks of Randy McMichael, except without the crazy catch radius. They move a lot alike and look a lot alike, pigment not withstanding.

Excited about C. Young.
Is there a timeline on those DL injuries?

Looks like he has good speed and good hands, but he gets tackled and doesn't run through tackles like Brock does.

I am trying to get my training camp Dawg fix here. Why is this only the 27th comment?
Posted on 8/6/24 at 9:09 pm to Violent Hip Swivel
I saw a 4 day old Brooks Austin video today from the first day of training camp. He has a media credential to watch portions of practice.
Summary:
-Branson Robinson completely healthy and ready to go (no jinx).
-Rod Robinson looks leaner, shiftier.
-Etienne good.
-true fresh Frazier at RB seems to be a grown arse man and will contribute from day 1
-Rashada at QB is a string bean, don't expect to see him much this year.
-Beck more vocal as a "coach on the field" than he was last year in his first year as a starter.
-Yurosek at TE didn't do much, still taking in the installation/playbook of offense, reps going to Delp, Lawson. Yurosek just got here a couple weeks ago.
That's what BA had to say from his video. There's more, but that's just a summary.

Notes from yesterdays practice.
Gunner remains QB2 for now, but Jaden Rashada is challenging for the position. Jaden has adapted well to UGA's culture, understands a significant portion of the offense, and has shown improved accuracy after recovering from surgery. At running back, Etienne leads, with RodRob and Branson following, and freshman Nate Frazier learning but expected to play. The primary wide receivers are Dillon Bell, Arian Smith, and Dom Lovett, with other players rotating in. Oscar Delp is the leading tight end, followed by Luckie. The offensive line is mostly set, with some players cross-training.
Defensively, the line has injury concerns but good depth. CJ Allen and Raylen Wilson are performing well at linebacker. At corner, Daniel Harris and Julian Humphrey are competing, while Daylen Everette is solid. Malaki Starks is a key safety, with KJ Bolden impressing. The new NCAA rule allowing analysts to coach in practice has added valuable feedback, enhancing player development and internal coaching pipelines.

That's better and thanks for playing, but the Alabama board is still averaging 35-40 posts per day on its preseason camp thread.
I know that we are better than this lol!

There’s lots of info from the other board but I don’t think he/they want it posted here. Am I wrong?
I normally get a little information from spring/fall camps from a close source but that dried up recently. Or at least I haven’t gotten much yet.

^^^Brooks Austin is the best for free content imo. He's supposed to be pushing his paid Patreon account, but he can't help himself and ends up spouting off everything he has on Youtube.
Obviously Brooks knows more about actually playing football and the intricacies of football than every other Georgia beat writer put together. Every other beat writer is just a journlism nerd.
Sometimes you have to fast forward through the 2 hour videos he does, but sometimes it's easy to find on his "Film Guy Network" Youtube channel, like THIS one that he just put out today that I haven't had a chance to watch yet...

From Jordan 24/7:
Checked in with some folks about practice so far this week. Here’s what I’ve heard:
— The running backs continue to impress. We’ve talked a lot about the young guys — and I continue to hear good things about Nate Frazier — but Trevor Etienne has made an excellent impression during this camp. He’s set for a big year
— I noted a drop from Arian Smith on Tuesday. Apparently that has not been the norm this camp. He’s been very impressive and catching the ball at a high rate.
The other receivers who I was told are impressing: Miami transfer Colbie Young and freshman Sacovie White
— Georgia’s young linebackers have also made a positive impression. I’m not sure how quickly freshmen like Chris Cole and Justin Williams will get in the mix, but it sounds like the underclassmen are making strides in the lead up to the season

Troy Bowles is getting time with the 1’s at ILB. It’ll be interesting how that shakes out when Mondon gets back.

Chatgpt summary of an Intel post from Graham. Concerning that Hall and Miller are both gimpy right now. Need both to be successful this year.
Offense:
Gunner Stockton is showing consistency at QB, outperforming Jaden Rashada and Puglisi, though they have higher potential.
The running back unit is considered the best on the team, with Roderick Robinson and Branson Robinson impressing with their physicality. Branson Robinson, recovering from a ruptured patellar tendon, is highly praised.
The offensive line is strong despite Jared Wilson being limited by injury.
Colbie Young and Dominic Lovett are standing out among wide receivers, with freshman Sacovie White making a strong case for playing time.
Defense:
Daylen Everette and Joenel Aguero have shown significant improvement, with Aguero likely starting at STAR.
Ellis Robinson is being integrated into multiple defensive back packages.
Jalon Walker is being utilized in versatile roles, including OLB/EDGE and 3 LB looks.
The defensive line has had some challenges, but Jamaal Jarrett is emerging as a key player. Nazir Stackhouse is being pushed to show more intensity.
Injuries:
Christen Miller has resumed some individual drills.
Jordan Hall is being carefully managed by the training staff to avoid further injury, with uncertainty about his availability for the Clemson game.
The situation with Hall is still being monitored for further developments.

Branson Robinson and Etienne shined. Roderick Robinson on rep count.
Dillon Bell, Arian Smith, and Anthony Evans all had good days. Lovett and Young are on rep counts. Jeremy Bell making a real play for Z playing time.
Delp on a rep count and solid #1 TE. Yurosek is going to be a possession receiver. Luckie and Reddell split #2 reps.
Daniel Harris was with the 1’s at CB and did very well.
