Maybe not needs, but that place would make $$$. Students would love it as well.

I'm still convinced that a putt-putt place that had a full bar and allowed you to take your drinks on the course would make a killing in Athens.

The Greek date-nights alone would make it profitable.

We are never leaving. We flat out love it here and my family has never felt more at home.

We recently moved to Gwinnett, after having lived in AThens forever. Wife finally graduated vet school, got a job in Buford.

The whole time, I was commuting to Atlanta, literally Atlanta proper. It sucked.

So moving to Gwinnett was supposed to cut my commute in half (halfway distance wise) and the section we are in has pretty good schools.

But... since we moved in April, my commute has gone from 1.5 hours to 1 hour, not exactly cut in half.

Wife's job in Buford isn't really that far of a commute from Oconee, because you can haul arse the whole way and you are still outside the bounds of ATL traffic.

So, if she can accept ten minute longer commute, and I can accept 30 minute longer commute, and the toddler's old daycare in Oconee can take him back, it is a serious consideration.

Every few years I go back, to see if the service has improved, and after all these years, it's still slow as frick. I'm not exaggerating when I say it takes an hour. Even when they are slow. My SIL worked there for a while, she said it's because literally nobody gives a frick, there is no management, no operations or procedures, very little prepwork, total shite show.

But because they are still popular, ownership says who cares, why make improvements or spend effort on better management and procedure etc?

Damn. I actually had no idea they'd even been there for a "few years". If that kind of wait is the norm, perhaps they should consider changing their name.

Apparently they didn't close, per their facebook page.

I swear to God they announced their closing a while back. I only remember because one of my friends was a regular there, and was heartbroken when he heard the news. I've never actually been there.

Maybe they were pulling a Weaver D's hustle.

If you're willing to drive, go to Blazer's Hot Wings in Statham.

My office in Alpharetta. I go in usually 2-3 days a week. I did not want to move from Dallas to Atlanta and a friend told me about Watkinsville. We visited and fell in love with it. So we put down a flag.

When I go to Alpharetta, I usually leave around 5am to beat traffic. I usually can make it from Athens to Alpharetta in about 1 hour 20. Coming home closer to 2.
316/University Parkway is a S*** show with all the lights on it. Plus State Bridge is the only way to get to Alpharetta. Which is also a dumpster fire of a road.

Let me know if you make it back to the mother land. I will make sure you get some good Cajun cooking, boudin and Crawfish in the spring.

My daughter (6th grade) attends Prince Ave (As you can see in my avatar) she has absolutely thrived there.

You do realize this used to be a real thing, right?

No, wait....if was Athens Burger Factory (ABF).

Oddly enough, I literally only found one thing on the internet that even acknowledged their existence. It's from 1999, which predates the onslaught of information on the internet, I suppose.

The AMF features all kinds of music from punk to swing to rock to DJ spinning and hosts both locals and out-of-town artists throughout the week. It's a big room with a real dance floor in front of the stage. They recently took on a new booking agent, so expect to see some even stronger lineups in the future.

I also have an office on Windward Pkwy.

From Athens, take 129 N to Jefferson, then South to Mall of Georgia Hwy 20 through Sugar Hill, to 400, and haul arse on down. Construction screws up Sugar Hill for the time being, but when they are done it will be a nice little route. Where I live in Gwinnett it is still the way I take (minus the 129 to Jefferson, I just get on 20 locally).

With that Address... you have to call yourself 420 E Clayton and cater to the hippies... especially in 1999.

No wonder they failed, trying to be a dance club burger bar.

Yeah, I think they tried to do too much. But I remember it well. I was a freshman in 1998 and am a native. Practically grew up on campus.

They had an entrance on Broad St, too. The building they were in stretched across to both streets.

What this town REALLY needs is a really really good REAL Mexican restaurant. Not the "Gringo" covered in yellow cheese and refried beans TexMex. I mean a real quality Mexican restaurant.
Now that would make a killing.....

Across from chicken plant by 10 loop, all the mexicans eat there.

Its tolerable at best. Its in our regular rotation since its so close.

Mi Cocina for example used to be in Atlanta. That kind of place with a good bar would kill it.

Fajita Mex Grill in downtown Statham is pretty good. Small joint, but run by authentic messicans. Depends on what you get as far as whether it's more Mex than Tex-Mex, but I really like their mex tacos. The sauce it comes with (can't recall the name of it) is really good.

EDIT: No bar there, unfortunately. Still worth a try.

Tlaloc is the place on Chase street... I would link you but I couldn't find a web page or facebook because I apparently suck at the internet.

It's authentic.

They serve bottled beer.
