Southern Pit in Griffin was voted best in Georgia by Southern Living magazine. I've eaten there a couple of times and it's pretty good.

I think there is one closer to Atlanta, but I can't say if it is any good.

How good is the Brunswick Stew?

Probably my second favorite behind Hudson's.

Let me know if you are ever in Savannah. I know some you are going to want a local white person with you.

What days? Some are closed early in the week during the year. I have no idea what some of the holiday hours may be.

Try Wall's or Angel's BBQ. My favorite is some black dudes that cook in the parking lot of a car detail spot on the wrong side of Bull Street.

Is it better than Colonel Poole's? I like their stew but their pulled pork is too watery for my liking.

I've never had Colonel Poole's, but yeah, their pulled pork is really good. It's actually the only meat I ever get at a BBQ place.

There is a place in Woodstock that I like that is good called Bubba Q.

Your palate is lacking. Might as well eat at Shane's if you like BubbaQ.

Heirloom Market BBQ is the #1 rated BBQ spot in ATL. Also if you drive through Gainesville don't miss Johnny's BBQ on Hwy 129.

Good stuff.

Danielsville, Zeke's I think

Zebb's (if we're thinking about the same place). It's good, but closed on Tuesdays now.

No good bbq in Athens proper. Fresh Air sucks

I disagree (just my opinion). Fresh Air is really pretty good. BBQ is one of those things that varies from person-to-person. One man's ______ is another man's ______.

BTW, if you're willing to head out to Royston, make sure to try Bar H BBQ. Brunswick stew is the bomb and it's all-you-can eat for like $6.00 (I think that applies to the meat and the stew). They walk around and refill the stew with pitchers.

I miss living in the South.

No one knows what Brunswick Stew is out here. I'd even settle for some Castleberry stuff. None of the BBQ places out here make it. At least the ones I've been to.

Well, on the bright side, you could always fix your craving with some pot (or make it worse).

Heirloom is the best place I've been to. FYI, (skimmed thread and didn't see this mentioned) Cobb County basically shut down the inside dining room due to how small it is and how small the parking lot is. You can only get food to go or catered. They do have a long community table outside that they may allow a few people to eat at depending on how crowded it is.

So, that makes it a tough spot to go to due to the lack of a dining room but the brisket and mac 'n cheese is worth it.

only problem with north georgia Q joints is you can't find decent hash.
Sconyers in Augusta is a good place for BBQ hash as well as the regular fixins you would expect to see.
