The NCAA committee
one thing that I wish people would grasp is that joe lunardi is NOT the committee. He is a talking head that generates interest and clicks at this time of year for the network. He isn't a decision maker, he isn't an influencer, he is there for entertainment and nothing more. Sure he knows more than the average joe and he's right quite a bit, but he isn't in the selection room. Looking at our resume it would be nearly impossible to leave us out, assuming we have 1 or 2 more wins on the year.
As you said, the committee values a lot of things that we have going in our favor. Zero bad losses whatsoever, several notable big time wins, good NET, high SOS, etc. A loss on Tuesday would muck up the works a bit, but if we win at SC I think we can lose the next 2 and still be in.

He is pretty accurate and lines up with other bracket folks. I don't think anyone thinks he is the committee lol
Seeing we have a 60% chance at the tourney today. Need to win tomorrow to keep the momentum going.

He is less accurate than many others IMO. He has just been around the longest. I think he used to be much more inline with the committee, but now hes just greedy and wants the clicks every few days, where others only do 1 per week.
He also hasnt done this since the PAC10 has been eliminated. Hes out of touch

Seeing some of our fans in the last week reminds of 2011. I was absolutely ADAMANT that we were making the tournament. Woudl have practically bet my life on it. Joe Lunardi had us out. There were 2 bama fans on the SECR that I constantly got into arguemnts with down the stretch as they just ocntinued to parrot lunardi's projections. Well lo and behold we made the tourney. I'm not saying I know more than him, just wanted to offer a friendly reminder that lunardi isn't the arbiter of whether we make it or not. If we beat SC tomorrow I feel like we're "probably" in even if we lose out. If we win 2 more we're an absolute lock.
I've seen some of our fans a week ago saying we needed to win these last 4 games in a row (starting with UF and going through vandy) to have a shot whihc is just utter lunacy.

I don't see how anyone can predict anything with multiple games left. Too many variables at play.
I've been posting Lunardi Twitter as discussion topics. The Bauer guy should release his sometime today. I expect to be in a similar spot in his

I bet Bauer has us closer to where I predicted. Same with Palm at CBS.
We are “predicting” just like the bracketologist…you even said yourself you post it for discussion topic
As far as games left, I mentioned it a couple times, it helps that some bubble teams around us still play each other, especially in the BIG10. OSU plays Nebraska and Indiana. Can’t see a situation where all 3 of those teams make it. We have a leg up in SDSU as well.
I have us as the 4th 10 team right now. If we split next 2 games and win 1 in SECt, I think we end up a 10, which I would prefer over a 9 at this point. Would be great to play like Memphis as a 7, and setup a 2 battle, instead of a 1 battle in the 2nd round.
Personally, just excited to see our boys play again Tuesday. If we continue playing like we have been (shooting and defense), eliminate some of the really stupid turnovers and cool it on the dumb fouls…this team will be in position to win every game they play in here on out.

I was addressing WG who came in talking about Lunardi isnt the committee and getting mad people in 2011 didn't believe him lol
Point being that it's not outlandish to still be cautious at this point. If we go 0-3 we probably don't get in. If we win out reg season we are in. Anywhere in between and it depends on what happens around us.

I'm not mad now, I was then. I was simply pointing out that many of the negative nancies in our fanbase that for some reason think we have to win 3 more games (or even 4!) to have a chance to squeak into the tourney are incorrect.

Everyone is cautious, myself included. Not sure how you took my first post to be not-cautious?

I've been saying for several weeks that 7 wins, however we get them, puts us in the terrority of "50/50 to make it but probably on the right side. Will be uneasy but probably slide in". 8 wins would clinch it easily. The fact that we've gone 2-0 since making those comments only helps as it gives us a ton of wiggle room. I'm not, not-cautious, but I'm certainly more relaxed than I was 7 days ago. At that point it was just assumed we'd lose to UF and TX meaning we essentially had to win SC/VU/SECT in a row to have a shot. Not only have we scooped 2 more unexpected wins but they've included 1) An SEC road win 2) one of the biggest signature wins of the year for any bubble team.
Anyone that is equally as cautious, or even more so, than they were at this time last week just can't enjoy any success.

If we got 0-3, it will be damn close to play-in or bust. Committee doesn’t like those cold teams, so probably out.
Anything outside of that scenario and we will be in, anywhere from 9 seed to 11 play-in (assuming we don’t make an SeCt run, then the possibilities go crazy). Like, making it to the SECt semis or finals, would catapult us to potentially a 6 or 7 seed…exciting to think about

A 10 seed where we go, Memphis then Texas Tech might be our best path right now

Georgia: I just got done saying that no team in the country had a better week than Vanderbilt… Georgia may take issue with that notion. It was last Monday that I mused about how listless the Bulldogs had looked for the past month, going 0-9 against at-large-level competition since Jan. 15, and falling outside of the field for two reasons: 1) A lack of any kind of top-level win that could offset a putrid 2-11 Quad 1 record, and 2) Zero road wins against any team better than 110th in NET. Leave it to the nearly left-for-dead Dogs to address both issues in short order. Tuesday’s win over Florida was reinvigorating, and likely fully cathartic for former Florida coach Mike White, as his Bulldogs jumped out to a 26-point edge over the Gators, then didn’t lay down and die when Florida inevitably reclaimed the lead with a little over a minute left, instead punching back with a 10-3 run to close out the massive Quad 1A dub. The good vibes of that win carried over into Saturday, as UGA dominated Texas in Austin, leading by as much as 27 in a résumé-altering road victory. That’s the kind of week that can lift a team like Georgia from firmly on the outside of the field to squarely in it, maybe not even playing in Dayton. Extremely unexpected based on how this team had been playing the month prior, but I am all for it. Well done.
Bauer write up. Still has in bubble category, but that's probably just to cover if we lose out.

Jerry Palm has us as a 10 seed right now playing Maryland. Not my favorite 10-7 matchup. Maryland is underrated IMO

That does seem a bit weird, although I guess I kinda get it.
We typically don't fare too well on the road and only got our first SEC road win 3 days ago. SC, despite being in the SEC cellar all year, has played surprisingly tough at home. Here is how they've done in columbia in SEC play:
Alabama - L 20
Auburn- L 3
Florida - L1
MSU- L 5
Texas A&M- L4
Ole Miss - L4
Texas- W 15
Arkansas- W 19
Actually now that I've typed that out, I totally get it and woulnd't be surprised to see the line increase. All season they've played better teams than us right down to the final minute at home. Then the last 2 home games they've beat the shite out of two bubble teams. Two weeks ago this seemed like somewhat of a gimme but this has turned into quite the battle on our hands. It sucks because their metrics are still so bad that this would defintiely be a bad loss on our resume, but I'm sure all those teams above (aside from bama) would agree that games there are no picnic.

Yeah looked at that on Sunday and thought the same thing. They are scrappy and our record in Columbia is really bad in the past decade.
Need the boys to lock in and stay composed.
