This is dumb.

You can bet on any and every sport. And they’re not the ones dying. Hell, with Trumps now federally protected Kalshi workaround , you can bet on the weather or the price of toilet paper or anything under the sun

What killed college football is this: (and please check off each one that you supported, especially the last one)

-the 4- team playoff
-the human playoff committee nobody asked for
-conference expansion
-NIL

All of that laid the foundation. We’re at 24 now in stage 5 cancer because :

-the boosters writing crazy checks want a participation trophy for making a fake playoff
-the coaches want better job security for making a fake playoff
-the networks want more money off a fake playoff

They think we’re gold fish.

They are all dying and one of the root causes for all of this is all the $$$ involved and a major source of the $$$ is 24/7 gambling

This is such a bizarre take.

It’s like saying that the advent of fantasy football hurt the nfl in some way. Fantasy football brings in eyeballs and keeps them watching even if the game is a snooze fest blowout. Which is exactly what sports gambling does

I guess mostly it’s just weird to me that you focus on gambling as the downfall of college football and not the NIL thing that you pushed on here for years

How long was that thread anyway? 100 pages? 200 pages? I forget. I bet there’s some gems in there

Exactly… fantasy football took football from just fans of individual teams to millions of new fans who are fans of the fantasy players. They watch more games. Fantasy football was the gateway drug for gambling. And not just gambling on individual games

Tell me you are out of touch with Joe Schmoe random sports fan without confessing on a stack of bibles that you are completely out of touch with hard working Joe Schmoe sports fans

Geeze f’n Louise This is phenomenal

Nobody playing fantasy is a fan of their players. You imbecile . They’ll trade your arse in a heartbeat if you come up short . Nobody drafts their “favorite” players

I can’t believe this is real. You two are made for one another

But look what we’re still not addressing….

The NIL you promoted and sold for hundreds of pages . Now, fully aware of the unintended consequences of your ideas and opinions, but without apology

Gross

Full disclosure: I AI’d the following fact…

>>80% of all sports wagers are bet on soccer. THE MOST POPULAR AND THRIVING SPORT ON PLANET EARTH<<<

The gross part is Peter Buck knows this is a losing argument. He just doesn’t want the spotlight on what NIL has done to the sport we all love(d)

Because he drove the NIL bus on here

If you read and understand, I did not say “fans of players”… I said fans of fantasy players. Because the gambler only has interest in the players on their fantasy team or bet. Fantasy Football fosters the gambling mentality of the loyalty to the bet. I am sorry you did not understand this.
