So I was thinking. As much as I would like LSU and Alabama not to make the playoffs it might be more beneficial to the dawgs if they do. If Oregon or Utah or Baylor or Oklahoma make the fourth spot more than likely Ohio State would choose to play in Atlanta where as if Alabama or LSU make the fourth spot they would probably choose to play them in the fiesta. Which means the dawgs would get the Tigers in Atlanta.

So I’m in a bit of a quandary I don’t wanna see LSU and Alabama make the playoffs but playing at home versus Clemson would be nice.

I like the way you think.

For starters, alabama isn't making the playoffs without utter chaos in the other conferences, so you can breathe easy there.

Second, it's not NEAR the slam dunk that lsu fans will have you believe for LSU to make the playoffs if we beat them. In fact that scenario, assuming again all is normal in the other P5s, would have actually never happened. As a refresher here is what the committee has done every year: LINK

Also I think you're kind of off base in your thinking anyway. ASSUMING (dangerous I know) things play out as we would like them to or they likely will (meaning us beating lsu in seccg) OSU is going to be the 1 seed. I would imagine they'd probably take fiesta regardless since it's closer to them and there wouldn't be a real home field advatnage for whatever 4th seed may be there.

If we win, OSU wins out (likely), and Clemson goes undefeated (probable), you're probably gonna have a 4th spot decided between:

12-1 LSU, non-champion
12-1 Somebody, Big 12 champion (unless Baylor goes undefeated and beats OU twice)
12-1 Oregon/Utah, Pac12 Champion

I truly think that despite their glittering resume and dominance so far that LSU would be on shaky ground to get in at that point.

Wouldn’t that be something if we beat LSU and we are the ones that get left out. Based on “the eye test” and their resume....

Anyway, my prediction is we lose to AU and beat LSU. Whatever happens it has to be painful for us Dawg fans. The Lord wills it

that is not even a remote possibility lol unless we lose 1-2 more games before then.

That would be a tricky situation. Using history as our guide, no 2-loss team has ever made the playoffs. Several teams have had pretty solid resumes and won their conference with 2 losses and been left out.

It's interesting to note AU in 2017 though. They woudl have bene a 100% lock to the playoffs had they beaten us. Their situation is extremely unique though. For one, they had no "bad" losses as theirs were to clemson early and LSU midseason. They also would have had (had they beat us) an unparalleled run of elite wins down the stretch. They would have wins over #1 UGA, #1 alabama, and #6 UGA all in the last 4 weeks of the season.

Currently, our losses wouldn't be nearly as good as theirs, and although our LSU win would match one of theirs, it might not be enough. UF and ND are good wins but who knows. I'm with you though, it would be just our luck to win the SEC by beating the #1 team in the country and still not make teh playoffs. Although at that time we'd have no one to blame but ourselves by losing to SC.

No I agree that Bama won’t make the playoffs... but there is a slight chance so. Was just using all players ...

And I , like you, believe LSU isn’t a lick if we win out and Oregon and OU/Baylor does as well..

But OSU is closer to Atlanta than Tempe..
And given the choice to make OU/Utah/Oregon/Baylor travel to Atlanta as compared to Tempe , especially the PAC12 teams. I believe they would choose Atlanta, and that would make a long trip for UGA and Clemson fans.
