Our recruiting looks pretty underwhelming this season. With the season in doubt, I'm wondering if we would be better off just leaving a lot of spots open and hope for better recruiting next year.

Might not be a bad idea with the NCAA looking to allow the one time transfer rule

I doubt that happens. We have missed on some big targets, no doubt, but there are still a lot of big targets out there and we are in it for many of those.

Not to mention if we left TOO many slots open you could run into a depth problem pretty quickly. Who knows, though....Kirby might decide to leave 1 or 2 open and then try to fill them in next recruiting cycle.

He is our third 3* committed this yearl. Last year we had 6.
The year before last we signed five 3* and one 2*.

So, does the Bullard commitment mean that we are out of it for Nyland Green?

No, it does not. We will take several DBs this cycle.

Stockton commits to the gamecocks, can't say I'm surprised. I think MJ Morris might have a higher ceiling anyway but we're obviously stacked at QB right now. I seriously doubt even Morris gives us a strong look.

Word is we've quit recruiting Morris at this time. He has some off the field issues that caused us to move on for now. But of course some will see it as a "miss".

His dad is very hands in and wants him at a school with a proven track record of getting qbs to the NFL. This will be his third school in 4 years not including his flirtation with Cartersville. I don’t think we meet dad’s qualifications.

One of them wouldn’t happen to be from LA would he?

Looks like this whole Covid-19 fiasco has hurt Kirby's style/advantage in recruiting more than at other programs. It's obvious that Kirby shines in one on one interviews and apparently those have been limited in this environment. I mean there has to be a reason that we have plummeted from the #1 247 class for 2020 to the 13th class for 2021.

I think you need to take deep breath. Signing day isn't till December. When has Kirby every let us down as far as recruiting goes?

I hope you are right but we sure weren't this far behind in recruiting at this time last year.

Look at the number of recruits we have compared to the teams ahead of us, it's way to soon to panicking.

I think you have good points, but I would think that Covid has possibly put us a little behind schedule? There are a ton of big time recruits still out there that we are in it for. Now, we probably won't get all of them. I would be shocked if we did. but they are putting their decisions off until they could get on campus and see the coaches and campuses up close, which is smart. Now that is beginning to happen a bit. We will probably see a bit of an uptick. We have a decent shot at finishing top 5 imo. Hopefully higher than that.
