Sumlin has a bad track record of keeping bad assistant coaches longer than they should be kept.

What is everyone's problem with McKinney

He was demoted because of two bad games (when JFF had a broken thumb)

We need him to recruit better.

We haven't had a breakout running back with him on staff. Three 5 star running backs have gone through the program with him as coach and none of them excelled. Sure you can blame the O-Line, but part could also be blamed on McKinney.

Actually I blame it on the playcalling more than anything else.

I agree. He's also had a ton of assistants get promoted

Kliff
Polian
Beaty
Yates
Wally

Basically his whole staff has turned over in the first 4 years, which is way too much to have the success we're looking for. I wonder if some of Sumlin's bad choices to keep a guy too long have been influenced by a desire for some consistency.

Tomorrow I think it will start to surface that we are cutting DC loose and Spav will not call plays for the bowl game. He will go back to QB coach. Wouldn't be surprised if McKinney calls plays for bowl game again unless we get the OC before then.

Somehow I doubt that.

You would figure a new OC would want his own staff, so that will hopefully lead to Spavital being fired, along with McKinney.

Doubt new OC will have a choice. Chief didn't and he's the goat.

But to reaffirm something Roger said, I have also heard we have a high budget for the OC, possibly even over 1M. Enough to get an elite coach. Don't know if Meachem is on sumlins radar but I sure hope he is.

Well you're such a source of reliable, credible and non-melt-based information on this board, so I guess I retract my statement.
