HeLLo my Aggy collective! I'm here to pee in your kool-aid!
Here is your kool-aid free pregame review before the battle with Moo.
Negatives
Several of you will put your fingers in your ears screaming LALALALALALA but so far we've done exactly the same that would have been done under Sumerlin. We've won a bunch of meh games and lost vs who we should.
Our offense puts up yards but really isn't all that great once we get around the 20. Way too mistake prone. Mond may give an extra element with his running ability but he still reads the defense too slowly to really get things going. Obviously the o-line could be better but part of me wonders how much of their issues stem from Monds slow reads.
What the fricks
It's starting to feel like the great Aggy collective is being targeted for targeting. The inconstant way this is called is rage inducing. It's funny to watch LSU fans freak out but holy shite they have a legit point that a certain team in this conference is not being treated anywhere near the same when it comes to one of the most game changing calls that can be made.
I don't get why some here think the Kentucky win is a big deal. They are one of the most one dimensional teams I've ever seen. They are not going to finished ranked.
We do not need to be playing a song by a band named Alabama every single game. I'm waiting for LSU fans to latch onto this as part of our Bama obsession when they come play us later this year. I DGAF if some students dance and play fake fiddle. They'd do the same for any upbeat country song with fiddle b/c getting on the Jumotron dancing like fool is fun. Get some fricking Robert Earl Keen jaming out please. I get that Road Goes on Forever is actually a pretty depressing song that starts out with a dude selling pot but there are several that REK songs that would work. I'm Going to Town would work just fine for example. If he is too "edgy" for the "THIS IS A FAMILY EVENT" types find a Lyle Lovett song.
Positives
Elko is gold. It's pretty impressive to see him take a defense that couldn't stop the run for anything and turn it into a legitimately tough front. While we've gotten lucky with a bunch of teams that can't throw even in years past that wouldn't have mattered. Keeping him will be the most important thing every single offseason for Jimbo.
Ball control offense. RC Slocum boners for everyone! The one thing that really ticked me off with Sumlin was how we almost never ever tried to run clock. I'm still pissed about how we blew the UCLA game last year when if we had just let the play clock run down and run the ball every play we win easy. Jimbo may get a little too conservative here and there but he is doing a damn good job protecting the D.
Overall
We are in the same place we are always in. We put up a fight against Bama, we have 5 wins, and we have the world ahead of us. Beating the Mississippi schools should be considered required by every Aggy HC. Sumlin couldn't do it. Jimbo has a little luck with both schools suddenly losing their good to great HCs right around the same time so he has zero excuses. We have more talent. We have a $7.5 million HC with a natty. The L train is waiting at the station. Time for Jimbo to send it away.
and for your top play of the first half of the year...
HeisMann. Give it to him.
