I clearly remember how little pub our LSU Cotton Bowl game got on ESPN because of that fact. It becomes a regional game instead of a national one.
iirc, the LSU-A&M cotton bowl had the highest tv ratings of any non-BCS bowl that year and the highest Cotton Bowl ratings since the mid-90s

The game itself had high ratings but every Sportscenter that previewed bowls ignored it. ESPN acted as though it simply didn't exist. The game itself ended up being huge anyway as it was clearly the best Non BCS Bowl with a fascinating A&M/LSU matchup but that's kind of irrelevant.
Play in the Cap One or just about any other bowl and we get hyped for weeks before hand on ESPN and the game itself is frosting. That's the point. Maybe a Cotton Bowl match overcomes the ESPN blackball but it will happen again.

Don't see okie state in the cotton bowl in the first place. Even if they kill Baylor, Oklahoma will most likely be going to the Cotton Bowl.
10 teams make a BCS bowl. Many have had OU in one of them, but because of how weak the Big East is, either Kent State or Northern Illinois will most likely steal OU's spot, because of the BCS rules.
10 teams (most likely): ND, Bama/Georgia, Florida, FSU, Kansas State, Nebraska, Stanford, Oregon, Louisville/Rutgers, Kent State/NIU
Unless either Kent State or NIU isn't in the top 16, OU will be in the Cotton Bowl.

I remember seeing tons of Cotton Bowl stuff on Fox while watching NFL games. Plus the Cotton Bowl is on Friday night and is pretty much the only thing on.

A few bowl projections said Okie State. Been following bowl projections for a few weeks and all of a sudden on Monday they popped up as a possibility. Unlikely I agree.
OU has their hands full with TCU this weekend. Can see TCU pulling the upset off if they shut down the OU running game and force them to pass most of the time.
