By now, we are all aware of the injury Ware sustained in the first half of the Elite Eight match-up between Louisville and Duke.

From the severity of the injury to the reaction of Ware's Louisville teammates, there was one person who immediately saw the parallels between Ware and Derrick Roland's injury.

"Yesterday was kind of like déjà vu for me," Roland said Monday. "I didn't know how bad my injury was until I saw my teammates' faces and the reaction of the fans in the stands. When I saw everyone on the Louisville bench covering their eyes, that was one of the same things I saw when it happened to me."

To be honest, I fully believed that we had seen the end of Derrick Roland that night against Washington. His gruesome injury (broken fibia, broken tibula) occurred during his senior year at A&M, and the NCAA later denied him a medical redshirt. He didn't give up at that point and has since played professionally in South America and Europe.

Roland plans to try to connect with the Louisville guard in the coming weeks.

quote:

"I just want to give him a couple words of encouragement," Roland said. "I want him to know there are other people who have been in his shoes and come out of it OK."

Roland was probably my favorite A&M basketball player. Loved his style of play and his heart

Immediately thought of D-Ro when I saw Ware's injury.

Yeah, that's what I thought when it happened. D-Ro was a badass and left the game with class. Then, baylor cocksmoking tapdancers held up their classless signs "Break a leg, Aggies"

fricking bitches.

I stand by my theory and apply it here with Ware. they both suffered from stress fractures that were never allowed to heal.
