Well Clinton served two terms because he was more like us than them.

But if we don't focus on who is "electable" it won't matter one bit.

Right now I don't know who is actually electable other than bobby J or trump and trump will never sniff the ticket and if he stays in the game much longer will divide the ticket.

And that is a huge problem because then liberals are gonna curb stomp anyone else unless another electable personality steps up. If you don't think they can fire up their hate machine rhetoric and through a personable character out there to run away with this thing then you learned nothing from the last 2 elections.

You seem to struggle with that word.

If the party put their full weight behind him, he would win. But it's not going to happen.

I'm not saying I support him, read my post again. Electable and who we would prefer are two different things.

Long essay but very insightful. Really recommend reading it all, but the gist of it is that with Republicans going in the tank with growing government with the Dems, there is no one left that is representing half or more of the country.

The only way we'll ever win a presidential election with a hard liner is if the live throw out the most uninspiring loser imaginable, and they are too smart for that

Twitter, Facebook, other social media, and a younger generation demand a popularity contest.

I'm not struggling with the term at all, I just disagree with your statement above strongly. He's a clown and will continue to be exposed as such. He would never win a general election under the scrutiny that would come with it, he would raked over the coals

The party still has an image problem.

We have got to get out of the left's trap of pandering to groups. Balkanization is their game. We truly need someone who will not approach the election as making promises to groups to get elected. We need someone who can clearly state the case that shrinking the government and allowing the people to work in and enjoy their liberty is the only way we survive going forward.

It has the image problem it has because it has gotten away from its foundation. It has always been the party of personal freedom and less government intrusion into the individual's life. They need to get back to demonstrating out the democrat policies have always and will always enslave people (both literally and metaphorically)

If you take Saint Ron and boil off everything about him that makes him great - his intelligence, his fortitude, his sincerity, his true belief in his ideals... you'd be left with Rand - a sniveling little weasel who used his father's name to be a politician.

California and Florida are lost to the dems forever if we do this. Better to get someone elected than no one elected

I think you would be surprised. We have been playing at being dem-lite for so long the party is truly scared that to actually take a stand would mean disaster. It does us no good to be almost like them. We either need to be them or not be them. But the country desperately needs to get away from the current one party system. There is currently no difference between the two parties.

He's basically a televangelist at this point. He's getting tiresome and Roger was 100% correct when he said he's the MSNBC caricature of a Republican

I'm fully aware that neither will be on the eventual ticket.
But that's my dream team.
I'm pretty lukewarm on the others.
Trump? The whole thing puzzles me.
