Nobody on this board was happy about Allen or Spavital's performance, but it seems as though the people who hate Sumlin are just using this as a convent opportunity to beat their drum.
The question you should be asking is why so many people hate Sumlin in the first place.

He clearly meant "convenient", and there isn't anything convenient about it. For anyone who truly enjoys Aggie football, it is decidedly inconvenient.
When hard times hit, the fallback of any good sunshine pumper is to claim that those being "negative" actually derive some sort of perverse enjoyment out of it. They claim we would rather be right than win football games.
It is as illogical as it is desperate but the only other option would be to admit their optimism was misguided and goddammit we can't have that.
We saw the same thing happen near the end with RC, Fran and Sherman. You just have to pat them on the head, let them throw their tantrums and then agree to forget it all ever happened when the coach is inevitably fired.
Years from now, guys like this will be the first to tell you they never liked Sumlin and always knew he'd fail. Everyone else will just have to smile, nod and move on.

He's referencing Hamlet to Ophelia, "Get thee to a nunnery." Shakespeare was always on point.
