I agree Sherm in a badass OL coach. Don't know if he would take the job.
That being said, firing the OL coach after one season seems like a quick trigger. Don't know if Sumlin is feeling that desperate.
Is there a reason the OL sucked when DC has been a successful coach for a long time?

Don't know if comparing him to Chavis is fair.
Chavis is a terrific coach and not many coaches will meet that standard.
Chavis definitely had better talent to work with on the defensive line. Our recruiting prior to Chavis was solid on DL.

McKinney has had a pretty strong recruiting year this year. Not saying I like him, but of all the years to justify letting him go this is probably the most difficult outside of 2012

Side note: you guys give Sherman way too much credit for the Offensive line. That 2010 recruiting class was special, but there were a ton of misses. Do you remember Clint Naron, Rhontae Scales, Stephen Barrera, Josh Ayers, and Shep Klinke? Sumlin has a significantly better hit rare than Sherman ever did.

On the OL he has a better hit rate? Lol

Let's examine that claim a lot more closely:
You could make the argument that Ifedi and Matthews (2012 class) were Sherman recruits.
2013 class - 0/3
Ishmael Wilson - Now at Baylor
Joas Aguilar - Never played a down due to injury
Jeremiah Stuckey - No longer on team
2014 class - 3/6, 4/6 if you're being generous
Jermaine Eluemunor - Barely plays as a backup
Avery Gennesy - Starter, but horribly average
Zach Ledwik - quit the team
Koda Martin - Backup RT
Tank Davis - Hasn't played a down
J.J. Gustafson - backup Center
2015 class - incomplete
Keaton Sutherland - Starting
Erik McCoy - redshirt
Connor Lanfear - wasted redshirt
Trevor Elbert - redshirt
That's a hit rate of 3/9, or 33.3%
Let's compare that to Sherman: (leaving out the 2008 class)
2009 1/4
Stephen Barrera - DT playing OT, injury retirement
Rhontae Scales - bust
Patrick Lewis - Seattle Seahawks
Clint Naron - Injury
2010 - 5/6
Jake Matthews - Atlanta Falcons
Luke Joeckel - Jacksonville Jaguars
Cedric Ogbuehi - Cincinnati Bengals
Shep Klinke - bust
Garrett Gramling - Solid player
Jarvis Harrison - NY Jets
2011 - 2/4
Shayvion Hatten - Moved to DL, retired
Ben Compton - Solid backup
Joe Cheek - 2 year starter
Nate Gutekunst - injuries
2012 class (these were both recruited by Sherman)
Mike Matthews - 3 year starter
Germain Ifedi - 3 year starter
Sherman's hit rate was 10/19, which is over 50%.
Even including Ayers, Thomas (who was a 2-year starter), Lathrop, and Villaviscencio (who played solidly) and moving the 2012 class to Sumlin from Sherman, you get the following
Sherman: 10/21 (47.6%)
Sumlin: 5/11 (45.5%)
To summarize:
1. Your claim is HORRIBLY inaccurate
2. You have to really cook the books to put Sumlin anywhere close to Sherman in terms of recruiting AND DEVELOPING offensive line talent.

Gramling probably would've at least got a cup of coffee in the NFL (he was invited to the combine) but he retired instead

Per smokinaces; meachum was the rumor but it's not true.

Interesting. Did he give a clue as to who it may be? Meachem had to have been the likely candidate at one point for the rumor to be so well heard by connected people.
