I don't know about Addison but I can give you my pros and cons for The Woodlands.

Addison is awesome. They have the fireworks and Octoberfest. It's the least snobby part of Dallas.

@tmc94 is like to hear what you have to say about Addison. It seems like the better fit for me atm.

Not sure what you mean by this, but Addison is widely considered the least pretensious part of Big D, imo

I commute about 45 mins to and from work now. How far is Houston?

Have a friend whose commute is 45 minutes(lives off Dallas St/45), but be aware in a city like Houston/Dallas that means no traffic delays whatsoever. It's definitely worth it though, imo. Commuting to work is so much easier than commuting to party.

Same, at least for a week. You won't go wrong with either city.

based on this, and my stereotype of Ole Miss students, and the fact that you are in banking - the Addison option is a no-brainer choice imo if it's totally up to you

Addison profile is mostly 20 something professionals. There aren't any dive bars and so as RC rightly points out, it's not as comfortable a scene as Deep Ellum or Greenville/Knox/Henderson. But if you normally hang out in oxfords and khakis like I assume , you'll like Addison a lot.

My impression is that you might not have seen the transformation of uptown Dallas in the last 5 years. Uptown is more what you're describing and beautiful women are avoiding lower Greenville/Knox Henderson like the plague.

Addison is more similar now to what lower Greenville/Knox Henderson used to be. Uptown is now the place where where you'd find "oxfords and khakis". Addison is not that at all anymore. Uptown took it all.

If you are trying to keep your crossbow in constant use, West Plano >>> The Woodlands. The Shops at Legacy is the cougar capital of the world.

Ahem... our "dirty little creek" is an actual river.

well...naturally formed passageway of water

To the OP: my advice is to find better opportunities so you don't have to live in either shitty DFW or shitty Houston.

As a kid, Addison v Woodlands is a no Brainer. The woodlands would blow at your age, and it's much farther from the city than Addison. Addison, like mentioned above, is only 20 min from dowtown/uptown/lgville. Plus Addison has tons of stuff to do like festivals and social stuff. Both are chain restaurant meccas, but Addison has way more to choose from.

Addison is basically a high-end restaurant and entertainment area in North Dallas.

In my experience the average crowd at places like Pete's Piano Bar says otherwise.

Addison is a corporate outdoor mall filled with former wannabe frat stars and cigarette smoke. If I want to pay double for food and drink that I could get at Chilli's or El Chico I'm going to go waste money at places like House of Blues and Dick's Last Resort near Victory Park.

The more laid back areas of Dallas are in Deep Ellum, Lower Greenville, or Oak Cliff.

Aside from Uptown being pinky in the air 30k millionaires hunting for fake boobed cougars this just isn't true at all.

Also, I really wouldn't talk about Lower Greenville and Knox/Henderson as if they are the same area. While the back end of K/H is a few blocks from lowest part of LG they really have very different feels. (though the city want to turn LG into another West Village which chaps my arse greatly)
