That's true but it's more just the longer, physical press-type guys he seeks out

I think Elam is still A&M bound though and LSU's numbers at the position don't help them either

So I guess we know who Muschamp was supposed to DM this to:

It's insane this made-up world Muschamp lives in

I'll take UF over LSU, Bama or Auburn

I really don't see any chance he goes to florida. Wouldn't mind if he brought a few florida kids back with him though.

Exactly, I view it more as a vacation opportunity.

I misread that for awhile thinking you were saying you would choose them over the other three, but now I see what you meant in you rather him visit there than those other 3

If he takes all 5 though, you have to imagine Auburn and LSU will be in those other 3

Exactly. Maybe I'm too confident, but I'm not very concerned about Sumlin going head-to-head with Muschamp. I'd take that any day over Saban, Miles and Gus right now. Plus we get the benefit of the doubt because he's already committed to us.

Any chance the Ronnie Harrison commit today pushes Deionte Thompson our way?

Honestly I don't think so, but will defer to others on him.

In other news:

-Wariboko cancelled his visit
-Ricky DeBerry will be in town Thursday
-Corey Dauphine and Kendall Sheffield are planning to be in town this weekend
-Roney Elam is planning on a visit early next week

Out of all of our current targets, I am least confident about landing Malik. He just seems like the type of guy who beats to his own drum and doesn't particularly care about playing with all of his friends.

tmc, do you know if Elam has made any visits with his parents or his coach handling his recruitment? LSU board a little nervous that he visited with his coach and not his parents

iirc his mom came to A&M when he visited in early June. That was when there was a lot of rumors about him shutting it down. I believe she also went with him to Austin.

actually here's my post leading into that visit

I was told about a month ago Elam was going to shut it down on June 8th. It may or may not happen, but we've been in front a very long time with him and he's bringing his mom on the visit.

Christian Kirk received his fifth star on the composite ranking.

Lodge is the highest ranked 4*.

They can rate Lodge however they want. I just remember seeing him in that Title game last year and being amazed at how he absolutely took over and made the other players look like Middle Schoolers. I was really bummed because at that time he looked like a Texas lock. Not so much.

Agreed.

I try not to put too much stock into the rankings, but it is fun to rack up highly ranked players.

To your point, there is without a doubt an extreme bias in the ranking system. 1) To be highly regarded, especially early on, you have to participate in the camp circuit. 2) You're ranked off these camp circuits, which most of the time don't resemble a real football game at all. Give me a guy that is a football player when the pads go on any day of the week.

I like to use the rankings as a base, nothing more because most of the time

I can form my own opinion on a player based on their film. I hate how players get bumped or dropped due to camp performances, when they are in shorts and a t-shirt. Put the pads on and let's see how they do then

I look at players this way:

1. Early offers/players our coaches are clearly chasing

2. Offer lists

3. Rankings

It always amazes me for instance when you find guys that are 3 Stars or low 4 Stars and they have offers from Bama, LSU, FSU, A&M and other top programs. I ridiculous is it to have some dude working for a recruiting service that thinks he knows how to judge talent better than guys like Saban, Miles, etc. Those guys know they can get the best talent and they don't hand out schollie offers lightly.
