I know Sumlin had his reasons for not offering before and Boyd WAS temporarily kicked off the football team (already been re-instated) but it almost sounds like he waited until the very last second to do this because obviously other big time programs didn't care about whatever it was that held Sumlin back in the first place from offering and proceeded to do so. Then Boyd was left with no other options. But now that we have..... I almost hope it wasn't too late.

Also Jacob Daniel committed to USC. He's from California and this was no surprise, really, but I hoped we could make a little headway into Pac-12 country a little bit. Really solid DT.

you need to breathe more. We gave a plan to Boyd in January. It included steps he needed to take to show he was mature enough. We never stopped recruiting him. We never strung him along. He knew exactly what he had to do. He followed through on his end. He got his offer.

the funny thing about this quote is that Elam didn't even bother stopping back by. Yet they think he's on the verge of committing as well.
I was told we would not push for any DBs until we had more clarity on the Boyd situation. I think dominoes are about to fall.

I can't believe A&M is beating us for defensive recruits, it just doesn't make any sense.

So you'd rather go to college with friends and have no shot a natty or conference title for that matter...than go to a school who's coach just produced 2 1st round defensive picks and 1 pick at QB....Hmm okay have fun in Farmville

If you don't see the million red flags flying by now, one more outside of 100 ranked defensive season ain't going to change that mindset.
You can lead a dog to water but you can't make him drink. Some dogs eat their own shite. That's no dog of mine.

LMAO Biggest offer yet coming from a school with no natty in over 70 years and no conference championship in over 15 years....A&M will hit the century mark before they win another natty IF they ever win another title
quote:
We will just have to see how things look after the season. A&M will be absolute dog shite on defense.

Statistically, he's unlikely have a top-tier defense unless he changes his offensive philosophy. It's just a numbers game.
quote:
Sumlin has had one decent defense in his career his first year at A&M. Aside from that his defenses have been atrocious even on a per play basis. Houston's defense got worse after he took over for Briles well before Briles ever even pretended to care about defense.
Something to keep in mind is that Greg Davis had an excellent running game his first season when he took over somebody else's recruited and coached up roster.
Anyway, I'm sure Sumlin will have better defenses than he had in 2013. It would be nearly impossible not to have better defenses than that. But there is absolutely no objective reason or historical supporting evidence to support the belief that he will have good defenses. Fan optimism and homerism is the best reason to believe it. And that's all I was saying. Hell, Sumlin could turn a corner, decide defense is super duper important, and field consistent Top 15 units. That's all possible. It's just not likely.
quote:
Wonder if Boyd knows that Strong had more defensive players drafted at Louisville the past two years than Sumlin's had drafted at A&M.
