Greetings vols fans. As of now, my crew is planning on making the trip up there - 3rd time. Best away trip! Thinking hiking on fri. Game sat. So, cabin towards pf on thurs night, knoxville-ish hotel fri night, chattanooga ish sat night is the tentative plan.
I think we messed up last time trying to eat on the strip after the game. It was a disaster. The downtown area looks much better, more interesting.
Parking?
This will probably be my last trip up there, maybe ever given the schedule rotation. I would really like to walk around the stadium concourse and see everything. Is it possible to move from section to section?
Any recommendations on the above?
SUPER excited! can't wait to get back up there.

There's plenty of parking in garages downtown if you don't mind the 15-20ish minute walk from there to campus (depending on age, etc) and that way you won't get bogged down in traffic and can then walk somewhere on Market Square/Old City for dinner. Although what I personally prefer is Uber depending on where your hotel is. Rates in Knoxville are always pretty reasonable so if you're relatively close and don't care about not having a car then that has been my preferred mode of transport on gamedays. You don't have to worry about parking, returning to one particular spot, or boozing.
And I've never had an issue moving around the stadium once you're inside. If you walk with confidence then you should be fine.

Holy shite, I’ve never had it be that bad. Although I live in N Knox so it’s only like a $7 uber. But that also might’ve been because it was a couple years ago, they do a good job of having plenty of drivers around games.

thanks for the info. have you ever known anyone to move from the upper deck to the lower or do you have to exit the stadium completely? iow, do i need to buy a lower level ticket if i want to browse around the ll concourse?

Buddy, you will literally be able to sit anywhere you want for this game. The stadium will be empty.
I usually park and tailgate north of the strip. It's a 15-20 min walk to the stadium.

i figured we wouldn't have trouble finding seats. my concern was moving throughout the concourse. at tiger stadium, the sections are bounded. you can't go from the upper deck to the lower bowl. does that require leaving the stadium at neyland, going from upper to lower?

Yeah that's not a problem, I've bought upper deck tix before and then gone down to the lower bowl.

Honestly, I prefer the first few rows of upper deck to lower deck for the most part. It's a great view.

quote:Yeah, I think it was right around the time Knoxville had just gotten Uber so there probably weren't a whole bunch of drivers in general yet. Hopefully it's better now.

i wasn't sure about calhoun's because of contraflow, if that even exists after a tenn game (it's a huge deal at lsu).
any particular spot downtown? i was hoping to be around other people. my crew had a death in the family and had to cancel at the last minute so i'll be flying solo

Market Sqaure - Preservation Pub, Scruffys, Downtown Grill and Brewery, Stock & Barrel (best hamburgers in Knox)
Old City - Crown & Goose, Jig & Reel Pub, Barley's, etc.
Lots of bars in Old City.
