Have heard some concerning reports on QBs

JG has apparently had an awful couple of weeks after a decent start to camp. Did not take advantage of Dormady's missed time to put it mildly.
QD should be fine physically and as I've said before he is an elite arm talent (have heard a lot of Bray comps) but have heard a lot of grumblings that the offense is looking awfully similar to the Worley era schematically.
With the talent at RB and good reports on o line you really hope they don't try to do this zone read thing again but it sounds like we could be headed down that path.
I think this could be a very productive offense if Dormady and the RBs are put in good positions but I'm not sure if that's going to happen.

What everyone was afraid of.
Thanks for the info, VF30.

That is bad news. But on the flip side, if the oline blocked for Worley then it was productive. Hopefully this hype about our oline this year actually pans out.

Good thing I lost all optimism last year, I won't be disappointed.

Butch was pushed hard by some people with influence to give up control of the offense for this very reason.
This hasn't been reported because it was never going to happen, but I know for a fact that there was one big, big money guy (same person who was heavily involved in Shoop hire financially) who pitched giving $2M+ to Kiffin when it was known he was out at Bama (at that time it looked like he was gong to LSU or the NFL) and CBJ was very open to it.
That obviously would not have worked out for many reasons but the idea was tossed around and pitched to the head coach. For the record, it would have been squashed by the old money boosters/admin immediately even if Kiffin and CBJ had both been receptive to it.

This is very surprising. If he is not open to handing over the reigns, why would he be open to bringing in Kiffin?
On another note, could you imagine Freshwater, Dormandy, and J. Kelly?

Jesus tityfricking Christ. Fire his purple arse right now and bring Lane back as head coach.

Volfan30, are your nuggets only allowed to be posted here? I ask because there is currently a massive nugget famine over on FL98 and your recent batches would make for some outstanding internet over there.

He is open to handing over the reigns to an established guy.
If Canada had come, which was also discussed, I think he would have been given leeway.

So is the zone read thing (ala Justin Worley) an idea from Larry Scott or Butch? is Scott willing to put QD in a position to actually succeed as a pocket QB? will Butch let him make the changes that need to be made?

Let's keep them here for now if possible. Just don't want any of the guys I know getting any flack for this stuff and I know UT monitors VN, FL98, VQ, etc.
Not that anything I've posted is too secretive or in depth but I don't want to get anybody in trouble.

I am not sure tbh. Was just told that there has been a lot of zone read in camp which has worried some people. I have not seen any practice or anything.
I have posted before that most of my info comes from golfing buddies who are in the media (they usually have great relationships with position coaches which helps them cover recruiting) but I also do know a few people on the booster side.

Well, we appreciate the insight. I trust your info more than most other sources. I'm very concerned about the offense
Butch's recent public comments about the offense have been less than encouraging as well.

Nothing would make me happier than see a picture of a SEC coach reading a message board thread on VolNation, TiderInsider, TigerDroppings, Hawgville, etc
I'd probably get it framed and put it on my wall.

It comes out a little while later that members of the Tennessee staff, Butch very likely included, were reading this small little message board to see what was being said and they were the ones who notified the higher ups to do something about it.
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha that is incredible

Lol maybe not the coaches but they have people monitoring those sites, at least at Tennessee.
DR mentioned one instance, but there have been multiple instances where UT has come after IP addresses of anonymous insiders. Some sites give them up, some don't.
I get some mildly interesting info at times, but I have never posted anything that I would deem newsworthy on this board for that very reason. Definitely not worth it to alter someone's irl job over a Tennessee camp injury or suspension nugget
