None of this is to distract from the arse Jekyll & Hyde Texas stuff that continues to piss us off…. It sucks being so mad even after wins such as tonight, for reasons that are obvious to everyone.
This is a little lengthy so move on if you don’t like data analytics and long breakdowns. I’ve taken note how losses are piling up for a lot of conferences - this weekend had a lot of upsets again. Indiana escaping was about the only exception of potential important upsets not happening today. As we’ve stated before the single largest question is going to be a 2 loss Big 12/ACC or 3 loss SEC/or even B1G. We all know in almost every scenario the 3 loss team SHOULD prevail but we know how much the committee is still stuck on W-L records. If conference affiliation and SOS is really valued we are staring at the possibility of not only a 3 loss team, but perhaps even 2-3 of them.
Everybody seems to think we’re only going to get a couple of teams in, and I’m thinking we still are most likely at 4 with a small chance of 3. This is where I am at…
We’re going to make a few assumptions - Notre Dame in (even if they lose to Miami If they win out and beat SMU etc I think they’ll still get in whether it is justified or not ) - add your G6 team to get to 2 - 10 spots left - I can’t see them giving the Big 12 or ACC more than 2 each out of principle - let’s say Big 12 gets two (they took a lot of important losses today as well) - we hope Miami is the only rep from ACC and just wins the conference and every other team has at least two losses with a crappy schedule. That leaves 7 for the B1G and SEC.
I don’t see where the B1G gets more than 3 - it looks like OSU, Indiana and UCLA. Iowa and USC picked up their second losses and it won’t be their last losses. Oregon took their third. Where would a fourth even come from? Northwestern only has one loss but has a back heavy schedule. All this being said that leaves 4 spots for the SEC. It’s hard to find the math for 4 SEC teams to get in having two losses or less. It’s 4 for the SEC - 5 if we are extremely lucky and 3 if things fall very poorly like a stupid second ACC team…. B1G should feel lucky to get 3 - to get any more would be a travesty.
I’m putting the over/under on 3 loss SEC teams (just SEC not all teams) on making the playoff at 1.5. I think there will almost certainly be one and possibly two.

It’s a weird year, but Texas has been ridiculously streaky for several years now. Not only has it been happening for several seasons with the propensity to get a large lead only to regress into a dogfight (this pattern plays out repeatedly) but Texas it is almost even quarter by quarter for drive by drive.
But yes, the parity in the SEC is apparent this year - I know what you’re saying there, it was mostly a vent and a preface to admit in no way do I think the win today has clouded my mind to have visions of grandeur…I hate having to watch the landscape of college football to pull for upsets and getting help, but that’s where I am with Texas resume right now.
