Nearly 2700 players entered the portal last year and it looks like there will be considerably more this year, that is hard to comprehend.

Of the 2700 last year, 2,364 were from Tennessee.

I actually just read that of the 2700 FBS kids to enter the transfer portal last year that roughly half ended up FCS, JUCO or nowhere at all.

That is crazy. The other mind blowing piece are kids who leave elite academic schools including Stanford, Duke, UVA, Vanderbilt, etc. You want to talk about rolling the dice!

Do the kids lose their scholarship when they enter their name in the portal?

Not automatically but if its a underperforming player that decides to see what else is out there, they might give away his roster spot to a different transfer or a HS recruit.

IDK if you remember Manny Netherly but he entered the portal and it ended his playing career. I assume he probably tried to come back to LSU but was told that we didn't have any room.

I’ll be surprised if the 2019 #1 WR doesn’t commit to Hogs this weekend

Quinn Ewers to Mizzou? That would rock the transfer portal and recruiting world and Mizzou clearly has a spot he can just be given.
