even Tennessee fans can vouch for the work he did with Jonathan Crompton in one season.

Well he wasn't the QB's coach so was it really his doing that made Crompton successful?

I really don't get what the big deal is and why so many people think Kiffin will fail at being an OC.

Because Kiffin will be calling the plays.

I get it. So all of the success around Kiffin gets attributed to everyone else, but all of the failures stick with Kiffin

So his past success is indicative of future performance even though we are not asking him to do the same thing?

Is it then fair for me to say that Richt will never lead UGA to a national championship because he hasn't since he started at UGA over a decade ago?

Different scheme same play caller.

You could say it but he has been very successful. He's gotten them close.

So he was calling his own offensive plays as head coach, but not as offensive coordinator? Intredasting.

Close isn't good enough in a league where five SEC teams have had titles, some of them having more than one, since your last one.

I misunderstood. Idk if this was the case but I've heard it before that Sarkisian was the man behind USC offensive success.

I agree but regardless, who would be better? I think eventually he can lead us there. We've needed better DC's and now we have one.

Reaves was nothing more than a towel boy who did some of the dirty work on the recruiting trail. Crompton himself will tell you Kiffin deserves the credit. I tend to agree.

As far as his play calling, I am not a huge fan. I like his system, but I wasn't really impressed with his play calls.

Link? This would be the first and only time in his career Kiffin worked with QB's.

Do you remember the Les Miles articles about how he ran things at Okie St.? It's funny hearing an lsu fan talk about a coach's violations at a previous stop.

quote:

Jonathan Crompton has a message for Alabama football fans flummoxed by the hiring of Lane Kiffin as the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator: “You’re going to love him.”
More to the point, he said Alabama quarterbacks should be thrilled. “I promise you, they’re going to love him,” Crompton said.

Crompton spent just one season with Kiffin (2009), but the then-senior Tennessee quarterback enjoyed his best season with the Volunteers. He credits it all to Kiffin.

“He helped me in a tremendous way,” Crompton said. “There were a lot of things that went on in Knoxville. Coach Kiffin came in and kind of said, ‘You know what? None of this stuff matters. We’re going to go out here and work our tails off. I’ve got your back, you’ve got my back and we’ll work as one.’”

In their one season together, Crompton threw for 2,800 yards and 27 touchdowns, upping his completion percentage and touchdown-to-interception ratio from the season before.

Some pretty strong accusations were fielded nonetheless.

haha ok? That proves nothing. I can accuse you of rape but it doesn't make it true.

Yeah and that still doesn't mean Kiffin did any actual coaching. It sounds like he helped mostly through emotional/mental support.
