Let me set the record straight since y'all hear one thing and run with it... I think CJ is a good player. I wish we had him. I've seen his film and he makes Jake look like a flat footed loaf at your camp. In fact when this thread started I mocked the spirit for being in such a uproar about him getting his 4th star. I think he is Carlos Thompson with 40 more pounds. That's a damn good player. That's a player that deserves a 4th star. I congratulated him for making the UA game as well. My issue, which has nothing to do with his commitment to state, is how he is a top 100, hell a top 40 player. Cody Prewitt was a four star because of his high ceiling, has all the tools just has to develop them, but he wasn't a top 40 player. Same for Carlos, even though I think CJ is a better prospect. I just view the top 100 players as kids who can come in and play for anyone right away. They don't need to be built into anything, they are ready to go, not projects or raw players. That is my only issue. I just think he's too raw to be a top 40 player

I know for a fact that AC has come midweek twice to watch film and talk to coaches.

He does not. It's not something recruits want anyone to know and he only releases that information if he's asked to back up his facts, like when I asked him how is it possible he's been to Oxford four times since the season started.

At the very least Shump will have attended four of our home games, which Bundy tried to make sound like he was locked up at state because he doesn't visit anywhere else hardly at all

but I also don't understand how our guys never go. We have had some really good players catch the shaft in that game.

Desper is garbage. Well in the weight room. Weak arse shite. I weigh 70 pounds less and out lifted him in every upper body workout we did the spring before he headed to State. That guy made it. How can you say your guys never make it?

I would say that is a very real probability but don't be suprised if he isn't at vandy either. I don't get most of my information on him from a recruiting site and while he hasn't announced a decision publicly I'm almost positive he is going to wear maroon next year. I do know that he likes ole miss and had a lot of fun at the Texas game but he doesn't want to play there.

Quay was the undisputed #1 DT in the state, the #1 in the nation until he lost a spot due to "character issues" and he didn't get invited. Russell I can see because he was only the #12 QB in the nation. Cord is the QB of the #1 HS team in the nation and broke 2 more of Tebow's single game records last week, he isn't invited to anything so far but his rating is so bullshite right now that I wouldn't expect more. Redmond, Richie Brown, and Nick James all were rated high enough to be invited last year and none were. Dee Arrington, Damien Robinson both top 10 at their position and were left out. Neither Fletcher nor Boyd got the nod and Patterson got invited over Bumphis who was rated higher than him consistently until he got the UA game invite.

I can see how these guys can get left out I just can't understand how they ALL got left out. Last year Gross and Ward both went, Gross is a great kid but honestly tell me how and why he got in that game.

How he got in the game? He started and was the defensive MVP? I'm not going to go back and look through those players ratings but anyone can see that Pat Pat had a higher upside than Bumphis and I seem to remember him being a 5 star. Damien Robison sucks. He sucked then and sucks now. Eberyone knew that as well. You know he didn't deserve to get into that game.

Quay and Nick didnt make it for their off field actions, not because of lack of talent.

I understand that some good players got left off, I could name a load of Om players who didn't make it. I just don't understand where you have an argument after Desper made it.

All very fair assessments, IMO...

If he can't come in and lock up a DE spot(at least in the rotation) as a true freshman, it will appear that he may have been overrated, especially based on how weak we have been in the outside pass rush. Top 40 players should be difference-makers in year one and at the very latest year two at every school other than the major powerhouses...

I've been very unhappy with our DL play this year(and linebacker play as an extension of that ineptitude), especially the headscratcher coaching rotations and personnel usage. Sick of seeing Cherrington at all, much less starting alot and getting half the reps. Literally everyone up front has underperformed, outside of a couple flashes from Quay, Ryan Brown, and Preston Smith... and occasional moments from Autry and Boyd.

In one post you argue about how a top 100 player shouldn't be a work in progress and now you are making an argument for a DT that weighed 260 coming out. Don't hurt my feelings on Robinson I'm still waiting on that huge mother fricker to do something and out of all the kids I named I have no clue how Desper made it. Maybe there weren't many good centers last year, I got nothing.

Gross wasn't a top 40 player. The only similarities are they both made the UA game. I congratulated CJ for making it. I think he should have made it. I think you confused yourself

He was taller but coming out Bumphis was a really fast kid, people were hoping he would grow into the Percy Harvin ish role. Balis put a ton of muscle on him but he didn't get any faster. I think Bump is great and he has our all time receiving TD record but I thought he was going to be better than he has turned out. Serious question, what happened to Pat Pat? Is he playing anywhere? I had honestly forgotten about him, he made a hell of a catch in that UA game.

He got kicked off of East's team. Bumphis is good, wish we would have signed him instead, but I really have no issue with UA taking Pat Pat instead. I would have too. As I said, he was a 5 star on one site

He is 6'6, not even flexing there and his biceps are as big as his head don't let the frame fool you. That was at the big dawg camp too I told you he has put on since then.

Ok then back the my argument you don't put on weight during the football season. That pic was taken at the end of July right before his two a days. He didn't put on a pound since then. You just can't.

I don't know how recent this is but he looks bigger here, probably in the fall or late summer.

I've heard anywhere from 250-270. Kid is big fast and strong.

Glad he is a bulldog.
