Those two are unrelated in this statement. 2 years isn't long-term. And how exactly does such an elite coach take a demoted position at Illinois?

A demotion? Are you fricking kidding?

He was a co-OC @ Illinois and was promised a portion of playcalling duty for the first time in his career. THAT'S why he went there. Nevermind the huge raise he got.

Our shite class included 3 starters that beat your teams arse with a much younger team. How many of your great recruits started? Why didnt they? Too many talented players in front of them? Then why did you suck last year?

OHHH -- so recruiting rankings don't matter now -- since your class ranked in the 60s compared to ours in the top 20 -- but then we fast forward a year and you be like "hellll yeah we kicked your arse in recruiting!1!!1 We will get every player we want from Mullen forever!!1!1"

You'll see plenty of our 2012 class this year. Hope you are realllly hungry for all the crow that you will be eating...

That would be Matt Luke. He's been recruiting very well this year. Die-hard OM fan and played center during Tubb's and Cut's years.

Funny story about his playing days....His Senior season(IIRC), he hurt his knee somehow early on during an Egg Bowl that sidelined him. Late in the game, Cut yelled at him to "get in the game". What Cut meant was quit daydreaming and pay attention(he was zoning off or something on the sideline) but what Luke thought he meant was "get your arse in the game" and he then went hobbling back out to the field. Back then MSU had some badass NT and Matt came in on basically a peg leg and whipped his arse on the field.

Cut kept laughing at that after the game saying he never meant for him to actually go in or anything....just to pay attention and support his team.

Would be a great story if he had ever actually played under Cutcliffe -- and his senior year, this defensive dismantling wasn't what really happened on the field:

I do think I was wrong about Engie having bad sources about CJ. I seem to remember he disappeared during that drama.

I didn't disappear -- I just didn't participate in the meltdown bullshite. I've never hated my own fanbase worse than I did during that hoopla.

My thoughts were out there -- and I stuck by them the whole time despite basically being attacked by both sides.

Obviously, because I am one of the few State fans out there without a single bit of OM inferiority complex in my body -- and I despise it.

I also don't conform to groupthink -- so I tow no party lines. I don't get too high with the highs or low with the lows -- just look at all the data I've got at hand and stay the course -- and I, for one, am VERY happy with the course my university is on in all major sports.

Yes, there is some concern with football. Yes, I'm pissed about how the season ended. No, I'm not off the bandwagon -- and I've been mostly satisfied by how the shortcomings were handled in the offseason. Am I happy about losing Brewster and having Sallach back? No. Am I happy about having Koenning still here? Hell no. But I'm very happy about having Collins getting his turn at DC(he was a Broyles finalist in the Sun Belt as DC) -- I'm very happy about having Deshea Townsend on board -- I'm very happy about Mullen being reunited with Billy Gonzales, someone he coached with for over a decade -- I'm very happy about David Turner, the guy who recruited Cox, Boyd, and McPhee and ddeveloped McPhee being back as DL coach after the tremendous underperformance we've had out of that position the past two years -- and I'm SO damn happy that Mullen is apparently going to call plays fulltime this year and give up special teams duty.

Would be fine with me. Siddoway was pretty good for most of the year last year -- just got banged up toward the end and was a step slow. Expecting him to be alot better as a senior in his second year in the system this year. Plus, Damien Robinson is finally taking steps forward and may be able to finally make meaningful contributions this year as a rsJR. Time for rubber to meet the road with Hevesy having his entire group back...

2012 Co-Offensive Coordinator & Receivers Coach Illinois
2010-2011 Wide Receivers Coach & Passing Game Coordinator LSU

Essentially the same thing....but he went from LSU to Illinois. And how much exactly is the "huge raise" being that it doesn't mention how much it was in that link.

I have a hard time believing Illinois was able to outpay LSU for, at-most, a lateral move. If he was worth keeping for that same position, LSU would have outbid them.

Couldn't remember which years exactly. I thought he graduated in 2000 for some reason.

Not that it really fricking matters what coach he played under given the actual dialog of the story. You really are a sad person.

its threads like this that make me love this site. The back and forth shite talking is great and should be the hallmark of this site
but intelligent discussion is welcome as well

Didn't call plays at LSU. Did call plays at Illinois. The promotion there is easy to see. The guy is a lifelong position coach that wants to be an OC or head coach one day. He got his chance at OC, failed, and had to start over exactly like Brewster did as a HC. As a position coach, he was highly sought in the offseason with his name tied to several different high profile WR openings.

Ultimately, of course LSU could have outbid them, but it would have taken at least $500k to keep him in his current role there -- and that's a pretty hefty price tag for a WR coach...

Why? Because you told a bs story about his senior domination of MSU's dl(one of our proudest position groups -- and nastiest single units in the history of our school) and got called on it?

It was a good story. Just tell it correctly(undoubtably talking about the 97 game -- against a talented DL, but one that was still very young at that point and not quite ready), and I don't have a problem.

I'll give you credit here. You, for once, provided links with actual proof of things you post. Kudos.....first time in this thread you didn't just spout off hypothetical shite with absolutely nothing to prove it.

Really? You mean the MSU recruiting thread that is overrun by Rebels spewing bullshite? Which, of course, was never in doubt -- and all but guaranteed once Bianco laid his egg today? Nevermind that one of you started an argument with me over something they actually agreed with in the first place?

Sorry -- it wasn't "my" inferiority complex that brought on this argument -- although I will agree that it is my refusal to accept the bullshite that has prolonged it.
