Curious after reading about the AU locker room split - you guys don’t think all this turmoil is gonna bleed into recruiting? Would the #1 WR in the nation want to walk into this hornets’ nest?

It’s on AU Forum at SEC Rant and it is a carryover from 247 VIP board. If you look, you will find it. From an AU journalist and supposedly sourced by multiple players- sounds like a cluster and entire team is affected.

- Chip Lindsey calls the plays and they're filtered through Gus Malzahn. Simple. Players know it and they think it's strange, leading to some unfavorable opinions of the head coach among players on both sides of the ball.

- Right or wrong, some players don't like Jarrett Stidham's happy, go-lucky attitude. He was smiling wide and skipping around outside the locker room after the game, prompting some parents and players to shake their head and grumble. Stidham is disconnected from the team, save for a few close friends, and a lot of the defensive players are not happy with him, his performances and his attitude. He shows leadership on game days, but the players don't see a killer instinct and his words ring hollow to several offensive players, and it's bothering the defensive players from afar.

- Several players are discussing departures after this season. Malzahn is being criticized privately by a handful of players inside the locker room, which isn't uncommon for any program, but the whispers are audible grumbles this season -- and have been for most of the year.

- Several receivers are frustrated with Stidham. Several offensive linemen want to leave if they believe they can be drafted in the middle rounds of the NFL Draft, but inserting my own opinion here, who exactly is going to be drafted from that offensive line? - Simply put, there's dissension, albeit quiet, but it's growing and it's clouding the thoughts and actions of players at practice and on game days. There's not a player on offense everyone turns to for guidance, and while the offensive line has been an absolute mess, Stidham has done himself no favors in the eyes of the players. - Malzahn is unaware of these opinions in his own locker room. Again, that's what's happening in the locker room. I'm just sharing what I've been told by several people. I'm not taking sides and I'm certainly not altering what is being told to me. My thoughts:

- I'll be surprised if Chip Lindsey doesn't look for a way out after this season. - Several players will leave the program if something drastic doesn't change with the atmosphere of the program.

- Accountability is an issue. There needs to be more action rather than talk, in the locker room and in the coaches' offices. If anything, there probably actually needs to be an airing of grievances among coaches and players in a team meeting. What's happening now is not constructive and is bordering on cancerous. My thoughts... Stidham is a transfer who knows he'll play on Sundays. No surprise to me the locker room is looking at him as an outsider and "privileged". Afterall his father-in-law is the CEO of the Houston Rockets. I'm sure Malik, maybe even Gatewood think they could do better and are making a stir with some of their comments. I do agree that Chip will be gone after this season. Instead of being "fired" he will be told to shop around so it doesn't look bad on the university. What i'm unsure of is if Gus will bite the bullet and hire someone outside of his comfort zone or go with another person that will agree to run his offense. Someone like a Eliah Drinkwitz. It will be hard to get an elite OC when candidates look at what happened to Chip and Rhett If things don't improve with the team I could see Stidham grad transferring (assuming he's graduated or on track to) somewhere near Texas closer to his family and fiance'. I wouldn't fault him at all. He would be awesome at TTech / Okie State This isn't groundbreaking news from BM he eluded to it weeks ago but didn't come out at say it. I wish he had kept this in his pocket or just kept beating around the bush. Not a good look for the program

In general, does anyone believe when an insider says something like this? Especially when someone says “x recruit is being worked on behind the scenes hard. The coaches don’t know so it needs to be kept quiet.” So some shmuck insider from New Hope Alabama knows what’s going on in a locker room, but the coaches are always unaware? I know it has nothing to do with the OP that shite just bothers me. It’s so obvious it’s such BS but people just hear and believe what they want to I guess.

I always thought your screens on the perimeter opened up your inside running game. I realize WR's like the ball deep, but they should realize they can show the NFL scouts what they can do in the open field and how many yards after catch they can get in that type of offense. It's not sexy, but it can be very effective.
