When doners contribute to the program for paying players, do they get tax write offs? It makes sense. Wouldn’t they basically become an asset in the eyes of the IRS?

Yes, NIL collective are non profit organizations so your donation is eligible to be tax deductible.

There probably should be.

You shouldn't get tax breaks for donating to a pro football league.
