Big 12 teams do not have that rule.

He did that in the Big East. As shitty of a conference as the Big 12 is, it's still an order of magnitude better than the Big East/American.
Not only that, but he didn't have the booster meddling and Longhorn Network nonsense he has to deal with at Texas.

Texas has money and resources....he should have no issues winning in the Big 12 as well. Louisville won 12 games and beat the piss out of Florida...an SEC team that went 11-1 that year. SOOOOOoooo, the conference thing doesn't fly either.

He had Teddy Bridgewater too against Big East competition until the bowl game
