Alabama had not won a title in awhile when Saban won his first.

It had been 17 years, not 35.

then bama won 3 more soon after.

Alabama has been within striking distance of playing for a national title every year since 2008 minus 2010. That isn't going to change over the next several years. Clemson will be lucky to get to 10 wins next season.

quote:

i think Bama has benefited from a weak SEC in recent years and obviously their title over LSU was controversial because other teams had a case to be in title game and Bama did not even win their division. it was that decision that created the uproar that lead to the playoff system.

Well we can only play who is on the schedule. As for the 2011 title Alabama was the best team in the country. If Oklahoma State deserved to be in the game they would have been.

quote:

Clemson being in same division with FSU makes it a greater challenge to get to playoffs than what Bama has to deal with currently.

Well Alabama will certainly help out Clemson next year when they skull frick Florida State in the first game. I wish Clemson could return the favor against Auburn, but they won't.

i like FSU in the game against Bama. I think FSU's QB is great. Bama doesn't do well when they face good passing QBs, they don't see many of them in SEC. you can't just stack up against the run and win against temas like Clemson and FSU.

you have no basis for picking Auburn at Clemson, given Clemson should have a good defense, and Auburn has new QB and new OC, and no real star WR. Clemson is stacked at WR.

You keep bringing up next year like it matters in this thread. Deshaun Watson still has that arse chapped. We get it

Well considering this thread is about a 2018 recruit, I'd say next year matters quite a lot.

If he's there at 32 I wouldn't mind seeing the Saints take him. He's a good player.

Too bad you don't have a clone of him waiting in the wings at Clemson.

Singles game results don't mean much to recruits. Try to keep up. And Trevor Lawrence is going to be a player, clemson will be fine

Francois isn't a good passing QB.

Yeah I do. Auburn will be the better team of the two.

given Clemson should have a good defense

So will Auburn.

Auburn has new QB and new OC

A former 5-star QB who has Power 5 starting experience, something Clemson doesn't have.

no real star WR

They aren't going to need one with that rushing attack. Pettway is going to go in dry.

Clemson is stacked at WR.

Agreed. Too bad they won't have a decent QB throwing the ball to them.

I didn't realize he had foregone his Senior season and would be suiting up in Purple and Orange this Fall.

Nice.

u worried about Clemson if you brown nosing Bama's state rival Auburn like that. lol

auburn was going to beat clemson last 3 times they've played per most SEC team fans.

Kelly's a good runner so the Clemson offense may be completely different this year. he doesn't have to be Watson, and AUburn's transfer QB is not Watson. he couldn't win the starting job at Baylor and Baylor not going up against CLemson type defenses in the big 12. lol

not sure why you think Bryant's won the QB job though, it is still an open job with Cooper and Johnson in play.

I guess you should start reading Tillman's posts because the majority of this discussion is aimed at his/her responses.

So, my friend, try to keep up.

Saying Auburn will win is brown nosing? I guess saying LSU will beat BYU is brown nosing as well? What about South Carolina over NC State? That brown nosing too?

You and I have a much different definition of brown nosing. You apparently like to stick your head up someone's arse by declaring who you think will win a game. I, on the other hand, equate brown nosing to kissing some serious arse, something I have yet to do in this thread.

Not me. I predicted a Clemson win in all 3 instances. Then again, I can be pretty fricking objective.

That's too bad. Without Watson the last two years your team wouldn't be in this situation now.

AUburn's transfer QB is not Watson. he couldn't win the starting job at Baylor

He started as a true Freshman and left when their head coach was fired. He was the future of that program. Once again you prove you don't know jack shite. No offense.

quote:

Baylor not going up against CLemson type defenses in the big 12. lol

He didn't have the Auburn rushing attack behind him at Baylor either.

Again, don't ever say I didn't warn you.

None of those three guys you listed are anywhere near as good as Watson. Johnson may be in the next 2-3 years, but not come September.

your QB isn't as good as Watson. Most QBs aren't as good as Watson. i don't understand why you can't grasp this. WHen CLemson won the title in 81, i don't tthink had a great passing QB.

your team was very lucky last year to go undefeated in regular season with that QB. you act like he's Tom Brady or something. Kelly may be a better passer than him.

you've never even seen Kelly play a game and you've already decided he can't get it done.

I think that for Clemson the biggest concern is scoring defense against the better teams, they gave up too many chunk plays and easy scores last year at times despite overall good defense. that last run by Bama's QB was a total bust on defense.

I never said he was. Alabama hasn't needed an All-World QB to compete on the highest level, Clemson has.

I don't think I'm the one having trouble "grasping" concepts in this discussion. Clemson rose to national prominence with Watson guiding the offense. He's gone.

I don't think you know what lucky is.

NC State misses 3 Field Goals, including 33 yarder as time expired, in OT loss to Clemson

you act like he's Tom Brady or something.

What the frick are you talking about?

I haven't said one word about Jalen Hurts until this response to you bringing him up.

Holy shite you are literally retarded.

quote:

Kelly may be a better passer than him.

Probably not.

Watson was playing with 3 NFL WRs, a NFL TE, and a NFL RB.

your it was all watson narrative is so dumb. lol

Clemson won the 81 title without a high scoring offense which destroys your narrative about needing a 'all world qb'.

Clemson didn't score much against Auburn or NC State. the issue in the NC STate game is they knocked out our RB Gallman early on a targeting that wasn't called, and then Clemson had 4 turnovers.

forcing a bad FG kicker to kick for the win isn't luck. if they were better team, they had opportunity to beat Clemson in overtime and they didn't.

i'm pretty sure teams missed some FGs against ALabama too.. lol i think Clemson missed at least one.

one of NC State's FG's was blocked too, the one before the last attempt.
