Danny Heitert who is also close with STL high school kids says if Mizzou can land the ESL QB, Estes, it would go a long way with Thomas. Whatever that means. Obviously the 2 are good friends so I'm sure it would keep Mizzou in the mix to the end but I don't know that it ultimately is the difference maker. Mizzou has developed a very good relationship with the staff at ESL and there's probably 4-6 kids on the team now from there.
If Cusomano said anything about Thomas, it was probably based off of an actual conversation with him. Though Frank also has done a pretty strong job of pushing Mizzou athletics in the STL. Used to be there was no STL media bestowing Mizzou's virtues.

If that's accurate, then he very well could have been turned off by that.
Mizzou will put together a JUCO plan for him if he can't qualify. Bama may not want to mess with it.

I think they are horrendous, but who knows. Hopefully he's got his house in order a bit more recently.
