That would be the opposite of what happened. Auburn was Phillips’ dream school growing up. UGA threw a big bag at his family, and Auburn had to match it.

Ok. It just seems odd to ask "What do you think happened?" when you seem to have a pretty good grasp.
I mean, NIL is a part of recruiting now. All you said was Auburn did a good job of recruiting him, so why not just say that?
No offense to you, and this is not specifically aimed at you, but I am always amused when people insinuate that a school did something wrong to offer a kid more money.

Isn't that exactly what he just said? that Auburn offered him money and he went with the offer? 1. I know a lot of Auburn people say that Georgia is offering kids money, etc. but from what our insiders are saying...Georgia offers NIL to the kids that have been in the system and have performed on the school and in workouts, but very little before signing.
I don't know anything. I am just throwing out there what we have heard from people who are plugged in. Can I ask who you are hearing from that says we are offering bags of cash to get a kid to sign? Is it somebody who would know or message board fodder? Or somebody who is next door neighbors to the janitor in Kirby's office and happened to be in the office and overheard a conversation he had on the phone?

Auburn has been waiting on his commitment for months. He officials to UGA and all the sudden he’s on commit watch. Hugh swoops in one last time and gets him back on board. Most likely matching UGAs NIL offer.
